The pensions do have a representation and website if members of the pension join for small fee each year. Its called Hare Mai and it does an OK job. Its funded by the government but as with everything in Tahiti it gets caught in the political stuff and never really gets going.
Air new Zealand flight really have nothing to do with Huahine its more the lack of hotels. Only one 3 star hotel and remaining ones are pensions. And most people I know in Huahine have better computer and communications equipment than in the US. The internet is slow but its their only way to communicate with the other islands and the world. I am amazed at some of the set up people have at their homes in Huahine.
