Good luck with it. I know my friends who developed Raynaud's did it well after they became adults (30s, 40s) so it could be getting worse for her.

Hey sst. There is a pretty good Australian dive forum that is frequented by specialist dive physicians. There is a section on Diving Medicine and Fitness. It is at
http://www.diveoz.com.au/discussion%5Fforums/
This site may well be worth a look.

Thanks Gary - will give it a look.. one of the Doctors on the other board emailed me last night and said he had the same exact symptoms a few years ago and couldn't figure it out. Turned out the ScubaPro regulators he had just bought were faulty and ended up being recalled for drowing hazards. We just bought ScubaPro regs last year right before our trip, even tho they are a different model - but my wife has never had issues before we got those regs.. His info is too similar and out of the blue to be ignored, so we're going to look into it.. Thanks again, Steve

Wow, sst, that sounds like it might be it! You should be able to find info on the recall and contact the company to see if they've heard anything about your model.

Old wife - yeah I just drafted a letter to ScubaPro explaining my wife's issue and the Doctor's letter to me along with their recall on the other model we don't own.. Was just asking for advise on what to do considering the symtoms are so similar to people who have had issues with C02 intoxification due to their regs malfunctioning.. If I get a response, I'll post it.. Thanks

I'm not sure where you live, but in Palo Alto, CA, there is a fantastic doctor who, as a side-practice to his regular pulmonology practice, specializes in under water medicine.
His name is Andrew Newman. I think he has a website. He is the most amazing, thorough, friendly guy. He totally saved a dive trip we were taking to the Seychelles (I was having bad ear issues and he fixed them). Good luck!

Hey gang! Long time no post.. Anyways, wanted to post an update to this situation.. Wife checked out fine on all health tests, so we concentrated more on the new Scuba Pro regs were using, since her issues only surfaced after buying new regs..
Turns out there were two issues: 1)Dive store owner misinformed us that the reg we bought was the equivalent of the reg she had always used 2)Dive store owner and staff apparently did not know how to service their regulators
To expand: the dive store went out of business, so we had to take our regs out of town to be serviced. We took her old regs with us as a possible trade in.. while there, the new dive store owner told us the air capacity of the new Scuba Pro reg was WAY less than the air capacity of her old Dacor regs.. Upon inspecting the new regs, he also concluded that they were improperly adjusted, therefore minimizing air flow even more.. That's highly annoying because when I had them serviced I TOLD them about her issues as possibly being CO2 toxicity..
Mt regs weren't serviced any better, but I'm not an air hog, so I never noticed any issues and have never had any problems.. My wife apparently breathes a lot more than I do and wasn't getting enough air, which resulted in CO2 toxicity.. her new regs didn't have the air capacity she was used to, to begin with, which was only made worse by the poor adjustments made to the regs during servicing..
So, we upgraded her reg to the highest air capacity reg Scuba Pro makes.. we dove ten days in May (sorry for the late report now in Sept) and she had NO issues at all.. she endured two years of near dive disasters due to service imcompetance and somebody selling us a bill of goods that their new regs were comparable to our old regs.. My fault a bit there, tho, for trusting and not looking up online..
I've been trying to find the old dive store opertator who sold us the regs and improperly serviced them.. I haven't found him yet, but when I do, he's gonna get an earfull.. I'm only wondering if he'd be liable in the event she would have drowned..
Thanks for the support, and sorry again for the delay.. we are looking at trying to hit FP again in 2009..

Wow, that's really scary, sst. I wonder if that's why they went out of business (maybe they were sued and went bankrupt!). I'm glad you got it all figured out & your wife is now safely diving again.
