Has anyone stayed in at the Sheraton Tahiti, particularly in a Lagoon View Room? I will be honeymooning in Bora Bora and Le Tahaa and have one night when we arrive at the Sheraton. We definitely want to stay at a nice place, but since our plane arrives in Papeete in the evening, we don't want to travel very far to a hotel. Any info on room upgrades, opinons, things to do, room service/food, or other hotels to consider in the area are appreciated! Thanks.

I stayed at the Sheraton a couple of years ago in a lagoon view room. The room was clean but simple. The hotel is nice but not as luxurious as either the Intercontinental or the Le Meridien. The pool and overwater restaurant are nice enough and the location is convenient to both the airport and downtown Papeete. We didn't ask for an upgrade and none was offered even though we have status with Starwood. My favorite hotel is the Intercontinental if you are going to be in Tahiti for more than a day. If you are only spending the night that you arrive, then I wouldn't spend the money on the Intercontinental, I would go for the convenience of the Sheraton. The roulottes downtown would be my choice for dinner - cheap, tasty food of all kinds.

We stayed at the Tahiti Sheraton 3 times this past November (lagoon view). The night we arrived, one night at the end of the FP portion of our trip, and then for 2 additional nights following a side trip to Easter Island before returning home.

We enjoyed our stay there. It's close to the airport, and close to town, although a bit of a walk if you're not taking a taxi or Le Truck. The rooms were nice, clean, AC worked well, beds were comfy. Food - We didn't have any bad meals. I'd pass on the breakfast buffet and go a la carte instead, especially if you're not a big eater, as it is quite expensive. We did have a couple dinners at the restaurant, and I believe that there were some varying items on the menu each night. This isn't a hotel if you plan on snorkeling, the beach is nice, but man-made I believe. The pool is a really nice disappearing edge pool, and good sized - we spent some time there on our last day before our late night departure for home. They do have a Mandara Spa here, didn't see much of it other than the room where we got a couple's massage.

If we have the opportunity to return to FP again and need to stopover before heading off to other islands, we'd stay here again.

I echo the comments above. We stayed there 3 nights upon our arrival and enjoyed the infinity pool and the proximity to downtown (you can walk). Since you're staying only one night, it's perfect. We'd go back there again no problems.

We've stayed at the Sheraton on 3 occasions and IMO it would be fine for a one night layover. Since you are arriving in the evening you won't have time for any water activities unless you've got a late flight out the next day. It's only about a 5 minute drive from the airport and a short drive into Papeete by taxi or le truck. There is a le truck stop right in front of the Sheraton.

We also have stayed a few times and have enjoyed it. As convenient as you will find to downtown and airport.
