Well then, just be sure you're careful with heels in the sand and on rocks.

If you feel so inclined, then by all means bring your heels. But make sure you also bring a pair of practical shoes.....just in case. I have seen some women in heels, but most wear flats.

I personally would not bother with heels, but if you feel you must wear them, consider wedges, which would be much easier to use than skinny heels if you plan to leave your resort for dinner, and would therefore be more functional all around. There are few pavements in FP; even store floors and restaurant floors are sometimes gravel, crushed shells or sand. Circle island roads are paved, but then you have to go through gravel to get into buildings etc. If you plan to have dinner only in resorts, then skinny heels would work because of course you will be on paved surfaces most if not all the way, but the style of dress is generally so casual in FP (if you are a fashionista, think at most "casual chic" or less for BOB and just plain casual everywhere else)that high heels are not commonly seen. Most people wear flats or low heeled sandals.

Think of saving your arches and no bunions or hammertoes when thinking of wearing heels-the devil's own contribution to fashion. I know that I may get flamed on this, but I have never worn heels in my life and as a grandmother, I have the best feet around-no issues!

I'm with you there Holte....high heels and panty hose....two of the worse fashion inventions ever! Both had to have been invented by a guy....no sane woman would have ever done that!
I haven't worn either in probably 20 years!

OK I am taking a shot here of making myself some enemies but I like the way women look in heels(I am a guy). My wife has taken heels before and has wore them to nice places. She also wore them at the Sofitel Motu to dinner. They make her feel more dressed up. She wears heels for work so walking in them were not a problem on the rough walk ways. They did not take up much room in our bags. We only travel with carry ons.

LOL! Okay superstar.....I for one won't hate you for your opinion. We're all entitled to one. But heels do suck!!! :-)
Guys may think they make a woman look sexy and all, and for what ever reason, many women seem to agree with that, but they REALLY are bad for your feet, and back, and posture, and all that kind of stuff. And walking many places in FP would be very difficult in them.
I do agree though, they do make you feel more "dressed up". And that's part of what I hate about being "dressed up". I hate heels and I hate the panty hose as much as my husband hates suits and ties.
I've never understood why "getting dressed up" makes a dining experience better. I can enjoy dinner quite nicely in flats and my husband in a polo shirt. I can understand not wearing a tank top or a bathing suit to dinner, but I've never really understood why some places require a guy to wear a jacket for dinner. That's just insane to me.
BTW....My husband thinks I'm sexy no matter what shoes or clothes I'm wearing (or not wearing!). :-)
I am playing with you here superstar. :-) I hope that is coming across to you. You never know how your sense of humor will be interpreted on the internet. :-)
Honestly, I think people need to bring and wear whatever it is they are most comfortable with. If heels are what FlirtNZ wants to wear because they make her feel sexy, then she should by all means bring them. I think most of us the the "no heels in FP" group, are just being practical. They are really not practical footwear there. Although some women, do bring (and wear) them.

I don't want to belabor this point, but it has been an important one for me over the years. Many years ago I went to an exhibit of fashions over the ages, and they had the whalebone stays that women wore in the past to get their waists down to some incredible low inch number. They were stained with blood and of course women fainted because of them all of the time. I won't go on about this anymore, but high heels are in the same league as that for permanent body damage to me. But if women want to wear them, what do I care. Patti, I am with you all of the way. I always laugh about how jeans are not acceptable in some places. I always say, it must be cloth woven by the devil himself. I choose to be comfortable.
