Sugarbear I just looked at the pics of your honeymoon... it looked amazing. thanks for sharing. We are going on our honeymoon in October. I have two collapsable coolers, and I looked at some of the food you took photos of. My hubby to be is a big eater..... am I going to have trouble? For me, the food looks wonderful, for him, I am afraid he is going to need two entrees!!! (or was it just the pics?) Also, was it worth the bother to rent a car? Nice tattoos by the way... did you plan to get them, or did you decide once you were there? ANY advice on packing or anything, for that matter, would be appreciated.... I am VERY nervous - probably more nervous about the trip than the wedding!!! :) Thanks, Amy

Amyb3517 - Sorry for the slow response, busy weekend! As far as the food goes, I think you and your hubby-to-be will be fine. I'm a big eater and there was plenty of food. It was so hot when we there that we didn't want to eat much. The portions are smaller than we, as Americans, are used to, but it's quite filling. It may have something to do with the rich sauces, I'm not sure.
I would absolutely recommend renting a car. We had a blast. Keep your sense of humor though! Not much luxury available in the car department. We did have air conditioning! It was fun and there isn't anything within walking distance of the Sofitel. You should definitely do it. Whatever you do, don't let them talk you into renting a bugster. Men seem to love it but just say no to the bugster.
Thanks for the tattoo compliment! We talked about getting them beforehand but once we got to Moorea we couldn't find anyone open. And we tried for 3 days! Finally, on Bora Bora, we saw a guy by the pool with a fresh one. We stopped him and asked. As it turns out the guy was right at the spa at the BB Pearl. We went to the front desk and had appointments for the next day.
I followed the advice of some seasoned travellers from this forum and packed very light. I managed to fit my snorkel gear, toiletries, clothes, flip flops, hats and room for souveneirs in one suitcase! This from the woman who packed two bags and a carry-on to go to Vegas for 5 days! I left my shampoo, conditioner and body lotions at home. I didn't, and wouldn't, bring a hairdryer. The one's in the bungalows are very nice and they supply more than enough soaps and lotions. Forget lots of makeup, it's too humid. Forget the heels and if you must bring them I recommend wedges only. There really aren't any sidewalks outside of the resorts.
It truly is a very laid-back place. It's not like here in the U.S. where everyone is so obsessed with appearances and how much you paid for your outfit. I wore a bikini on my honeymoon in FP for the first time since I was 12 and I have never felt more secure or sexier than I did in the islands. I havent' worn it since and I doubt I would here in the states. I just feel like everyone here is looking at me, in the islands no one cares! Go for cool and comfortable and you can't go wrong.
I'm was like you are now, very nervous. Trust me, once you get off that plane every trouble and every care just slowly fades away. Do yourselves a favor and do like we did....No Itinerary! We planned nothing ahead of time (except flights, transfers and lodging of course!) and it was so relaxing and stress-free. It was difficult for two type A personalities but it was worth it!

Hi there sugarbear73- I'm sorry to bug you but for some reason i can't get the link of your pics to work today. what's odd is that i was able to view them 2 days ago at home. i wanted to share them with my hubby-to-be as part of my full blown attack on why Tahiti should be where we go on a honeymoon. i'm bombarding him with pictures, comments, reviews etc etc. LOL it's taking a lot of convincing b/c it is sooo expensive but i think i'm making progress. :) I have narrowed my hotel choices to the Sofitel in Moorea and the Pearl in BB, which i believe were the same two you picked too. I read trip advisor and this website almost on a daily basis and so far i think those two hotels would be what we'd enjoy most. I greatly thank you in advance for the trouble. here is my personal email address just in case: kika1912@aol.com Thanks, Erika
