Tahiti Gathering - Sam's Seafood

Hi Tahiti Forum Friends:
Paraskevi and I checked out a tiki website that highlighted a recent gathering of tikiheads at the newly remodeled Sam's Seafood in Huntington Beach, CA, which is about five miles from our home. It looked very tropical and had an authentic Polynesian atmosphere according to the pictures we saw. Lots of Mai Tais! We are going to drop by this weekend and scope the place out, and report back to you on our findings. We saw some people in the pictures drinking Hinanos, so we'll confirm with the bartender if they regularly stock our favorite beer. Appetizers looked delicious. If all turns out positive, we'll offer some Saturday dates in August for another Tahiti gathering.

Rodjune, I think Sam's would be a better choice, then our two seater Tiki Bar! Feel free, to stop by for a Hinano, I don't think we're too far from each other.
By the way, I just remembered that on Aug. 25 and 26th, there will be the Tiki Festival in Long Beach. We went last year, they had two rows of vendors, even Hinano was present. Polynesian entertainment, food(no poisson cru)! Just thought I'd mention it, in case any of you local or none local's were interested.

TahitianPrincess: thanks for the heads-up on the Tiki Festival. We read about the festival in the local paper and maybe we will try to go. There seems to be a lot of interest in the South Pacific these days. I believe the Long Beach Aquarium has a South Pacific day that features dancers and cultural exhibits from Tahiti. We have not been to that either. You know how it is: when it's in your backyard, you never go. We have never been to Catalina Island in all the years we've been living along the California coast. Maybe August 25th, to coincide with the Tiki Festival, might be a lucrative date for our Sam's Tahiti gathering. More to come on this.

Keep us posted on the event and dates.
The Tiki Festival in LB I heard is pretty good. The one at the LB Aquarium is so so. Mostly Hawaiian and its kind of tough because the place is a zoo.

Woah, Andy, your post went wild!
We'll be in Tahiti (actually, on Moorea) in August, so will have to miss the Sam's get-together... rats!
For those of you who knew about our visa dilemna, I'm happy to report that our passports arrived today by Fed Ex back from the French Consulate, with visas affixed! Yay, eight days and 22 hours...(but who's counting?)
