Any thing good around? Don't really want to do an overnight but will if it's worth it.

The deeper the better too. Trimix if needed.

Flirt - I haven't actually heard anyone talk abou tand specific wreck dives in the area, but I would think there would HAVE to be some somewhere.. We only dove BB and Rangi, but no wrecks in those areas..

Hop on up and dive Truk lagoon sometime - that is one KILLER lagoon for wreck diving.. that would require a full blown trip to that area, tho..

Most of FP didn't see action in WWII, so this would be other wrecks. Is there a maritime agency in FP that tracks this?

There is the plane wreck off Tahiti Nui. I think it's a Catalina flying boat type plane.

Hey FlirtNZ. I've just got my Diving in Tahiti book out and found what appears to be several good dives. The one I mentioned above is on Tahiti, half way along the runway at Faaa Airport. There is a drop off wall dive near Papeete called St Etienne Drop Off. It drops well below scuba limits from cliffs that are 30-60 metres down.
Moorea has an old wreck (sunk either in 1919 or 1926) called the Opunohu Wreck (because they are not sure which boat it is). There's not much left of it, though.
Raiatea has the German Coaler wreck (still intact). There is also another Catalina seaplane wreck that crashed in 1958. It has one wing still attached.
As far as my book goes, these are all of the divable wrecks. As far as deep diving goes, any of the atolls have deep diving on the outside, but not much to see and very strong currents. After you dive the lagoons though, you probably won't be that fussed on doing the deeper dives anyway. Plenty to see in the lagoons!
Hope this helps.
