So, I've one final night in Tahiti, before my 7am flight back to the US. I get to Papeete from Moorea around mid-afternoon, and pretty much have the evenings open, till I have to leave for the airport at some ungodly hour, maybe 4:30am for a 7am flight.

I'm deciding between Tiare Tahiti, which is really noisy but places me right in town to check out Papeete which I otherwise wouldn't have the chance to, or the Sheraton, or do you think it's even possible to stay at Radisson (will it place me too far from airport?).

We have stayed at Tiare Tahiti and the Sheraton. If you choose Tiare, get a room on the higher floors, on the backside. We had 2nd floor streetside and it was very noisy. It's close to the dock and downtown (walking distance). It's basic, nothing fancy.
The Sheraton is nicer, but we got in late and left early, so it's more of a sleep stopover.
Don't know anything about the Radisson.

Tiare's front desk quoted me 15285 CFP for a higher floor. The Sheraton at about 19500. It works out to a difference of only about US$50. I was really surprised that the Tiare costs that much. I'm finding it hard to justify not spending the extra $50 for a much better quality hotel.

I'd spend the extra and get a much better hotel. You can always take a cab to downtown. I wouldn't stay at the Tiare again.

We have stayed at the Sheraton a few times and have enjoyed it. Still close to town.

We inspected both the Intercontinental and the Sheraton. The IC has more of the wow factor but we would probably go for the convenience of the Sheraton on a future trip. We easily walked from there to the Heiva in about 15 minutes. I did check out the Tiare and was surprised by the high rates. I would pay the extra $50 for the Sheraton, it's way nicer than the Tiare.
