Aloha, my cousin and I are thinking of heading to FP for a girls' trip with pampering (we're early/mid 40's) and were wondering which hotels on BB have less honeymooners and more singles? After reading this forum, I've seen mention that the Sofitel Bora Bora has more singles but where else? Mahalo nui loa for your kokua.

Hi and welcome to the forum. You might want to consider Club Med. It usually has alot of singles.

Sorry, I wasn't really clear, LOL. We're not going there to scope out victims, but what's that Joe Jackson song, "Happy Loving Couples"? Yeah, just looking for a resort/hotel with less honeymooners and more regular folks so it isn't so syrupy.

90% or more of the tourists will either be there for a honeymoon, big birthday or anniversary. There aren't enough visitors to FP to really get away from it because it's sold as a couples destination. Pick up any bridal magazine and Tahiti is usually the "#1 hottest destination!". The pensions would be less syrupy. The "budget" (or as budget as bora gets anyway) accommodations are friendlier on your wallet and should help keep most of the saccharine away because it's more locals and visitors on a normal vacation.

Thanks so much for your responses, I really appreciate it, especially as I have never been to FP and have no clue. Okay, how about this? Can you recommend a nice resort that is not hidden away and that would attract a broad range of vacationers?

I don't think any of the big resorts have fewer or more honeymooners in general (or a wider mix than any others). If you're looking for a "not hidden away" resort, I'd stick with the main island...either Club Med or Hotel Bora Bora. I think the former would be more relaxed if that's what you're looking for. Actually, if you're looking for pampering (I just read your first post), maybe Hotel Bora Bora is more what you'd like. At least that way you're on the island of Bora Bora itself & not limited to meeting your resort's guests.

HBB being on Matira Point, you can walk to the shops and roulettes to meet other travelers.

Thanks so much for all of your help, I really appreciate it. We'll look into those places, I like the idea of being on the main island and not isolated. I didn't realize that there were roulettes on Bora Bora as well--fun. Take good care.

OK, you got me too. I thought you were hunting! I'd recommend anywhere near (or with direct access to) Matira Point. That's where all of the tour operators run from, snack shacks, tattoos, etc. are. Just try and sit on the left hand side (inside) of the plane when you land.

I hate to say that, but going solo to Bora Bora is just a contradiction to me... It's the most romantic and magic destination we've been to, but to really appreciate it, you have to have someone to share the experience with.
