natanak-so where did you snorkel in Huahine? We're going again in December and wonder if we have found all of the best spots yet. I'm interested in both the land ones and the ones you found by boat when you stay at Raphael's. Also, where did you go by boat when you stayed there? I'm thinking of just a pleasure cruise. Even though we live in the land of 10,000 lakes and have our own little fishing boat, it's not the same as driving around coral with someone else's boat. We seem to be in the same rut of going under the Sunday bridge to the Coral Gardens. Any advice?

Holte - Our snorkeling was limited, but we snorkeled Avea Bay. But you don't necessarily have to take the boat there to snorkel though. There was an abundance of tropical fish there and I got a prize shot of clownfish hiding in the sea anemones. We also snorkeled off the motu on the south part of the island. The snorkeling was not great there, but we'd walk up the motu a bit then get in the water and let the current take us back to where we landed the boat. That motu was the highlight for me. We had it all to ourselves. I don't think we hit the best spots, we didn't even get to the Coral Gardens. We spent too much time on the motu. Enjoy your trip!

Hi Kauai Guy,
I was wondering where you ended up staying ? We are booked in at Raphaels in December ( he promised me a garden villa via email ). But I like to keep my options open, just in case.....
Cheers, Amadeus

Amadeus-we are also going in Dec this year at Christmas although we are staying at a friend's house this time. Kauai guy stayed at Te Ne Ha Toe Toe or some such spelling, if he doesn't reply. I read it in a reply that he had, but I don't see it right now.He gives details of his stay in his reply. It's on Huahine Iti and a very lovely spot. It's right on the road, but not a lot of traffic there. The view is spectacular. There is another one by the Pearl Farm in Faie, but he did not stay at that one. Poehere talks of the one by the Pearl farm in a post somewhere and gives a description.
