Hi all,

We've got a flight from Bora Bora to Papeete arriving 8:20AM. Our flight back to NY doesn't leave till 6:45PM. Any ideas as to what to do for all that time? I saw there was a storage locker at the airport, but don't want to spend all those hours shopping & eating ... any suggestions?

My best suggestion would be to change the time of your flight from Bora Bora to later in the afternoon. Is there a reason why you are leaving Bora Bora so early in the morning?

If you can't change your flight I would rent a car and drive
around Tahiti. If you do turn right as you leave the airport
so you won't be messed up in the traffic.

If you can't change your flight from BB, maybe get a day room in Papeete, where you can sit by the pool, nap, shower, etc., before heading to the airport around 3 p.m. Try the Intercontinental Tahiti for a nice resort close to the airport.

A flight can be cancelled in Tahiti much the same as Bora Bora. If you use that argument, why not always take the first flight out everywhere we fly on the off-chance the flight is cancelled. In fact, why not leave for work 4 hours early every morning in case there is an accident or traffic jam? I think Barbi and Hamara and Patti have offered good options. There is plenty to see around Tahiti if you choose to rent a car and the driving isn't too bad since most of the sights are on or just off of the main circle road. If you just want to relax, as Barbi mentioned, a day room at the Intercontinental is an excellent option. Otherwise, try to change the flight and spend a few more hours enjoying Bora Bora.

You have about six solid hours to burn in Pape'ete, which isn't too excessive when you factor arrival and check-in time. I'd put my luggage in storage and then head to downtown for lunch, shopping, and exploring. Otherwise, get a later flight from BB, as it's a crime to have to leave BB so early in the morning and miss spending more time on this beautiful island.

I have done what rodjune has mentioned. There are enough things to see in Papeete that does not involve shopping for 6 or so hours.

AS a matter of fact, we always try for the first flite out. Friends have stayed for another flite....they finally caught up with us a day later.
As a matter of fact, we do leave for work early, then we can relax for a few mins before starting the work day.
We'd rather spend time having a relaxing cup of coffee instead of waiting on the busy expressway.
If your carrier canx a flite in PPT they may take care of you.
The flite canx in BB??
