Anyone going to be in BB Nov. 18th through 24th? I am looking for a Dive Buddy. My girlfriend is not a diver but I will be doing a few days of diving. We are staying at the Sofitel Motu.

We'll just miss you. We'll be at Thalasso from 23rd Nov through 29th. My wife too does not dive but it has never been a problem, as most dives are in a group formation. The water is that clear that you don't really need to buddy up. Who are you diving with? I'm going to dive for three days (24th, 25th and 26th) only with Bora Dive. Then spend a day without scuba and two days tattooing. If you only get to do one dive on Bora Bora, make sure it is Muri Muri (next to the airport). It is a great dive. If you are diving on the 24th, drop me an e-mail.

I know that jrpinaz's trip is already over but thought I'd add my $.02 for those cruising for info.

The one thing I'd add is to make sure that you choose someone to buddy up with if you are diving with a group of strangers. I've found that diving in FP, there are often people without buddies, and the DM doesn't pair them up with each other (or the instructor, if there is just one unpaired person).

The dive masters look back to check the group (some more often and thoroughly than others), but they can't have eyes on the backs of their heads, so as far as I'm concerned that system is not a replacement for a buddy. After all, you can't scream to get someone's attention if you're having an emergency.

So, find a buddy or ask the DM to be your buddy, and make sure that the both of you are on the same page in terms of expectations.
