wow, were do i start.....
ok, the trip was good and bad.

weather - good for a November. 3rd time for that month and this was the best for weather wise.

stayed at the sofitel, La Baie de Nuarei and Elma's aunt's fare.
Sofitel.... for those of you that love the old resort and havent seen the new one yet, hold on to those memories, because you'll never see it again. The new Sofitel is completely different!! dif. a 5 star resort now. prices are outragous!! I do have to say it looks really good, "BUT" it comes with a price. you lose it's tahitian look and it's personnal touch. all you see is people from france working there now. very few tahitian. most of the old timers are retiring or just leaving to find other work. but that's another story....

La Baie de Naurei.. this is Moorea's diamond in the ruff!!! i'll stream video and post pics of this. unreal!!! for the price and for what you get, this is place to stay! private and really secure. Her garden is the best i've ever seen on that island. saturated with Tiare and Plumeria.

now the bad.... for most of my vaca, i was in hospitals, doctor's office and bed. Kidney stones........ aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!! take child birth and multiply that by 10!! had xrays, sonagrams, probes, and the works. had 2 stones in the kidney with fluid and one big stone blocking the tube from the kidney to the bladder. fun..... elma called the rescue and was rushed to the emergency room. (no AC in the truck, ooppss, i'm meant rescue. but that's ok, there was an 8 inch rotted out hole in the floor that rushed in air). :>)

the last few days i was feeling better. went to Rudy's for dinner with elma and the kids. went to Aito's one night. sat on a stool and jammed with Sal for a song or two. that was fun. went to the new Maeva Center across the street from the Bali Hai. boughtnother ukulele from Robert Aka. he makes them himself. nice guy. if you dont know how to play, he'll teach you right there.

so that was pretty much it. sorry BarbiJKM for not meeting you over there, didn want to move around alot. doctor wanted me to keep my IV in for a few days just incase i got worse. it's fun walking around your favorite island with a bandaged hand and an IV tube with blood in it sticking out of your right hand. you should have seen the looks i got on that one.....

Quinn got your vanilla beans for you.

Hamara, delivered that thing.

i'll post some pics whenever i can.

oh, and just one more thing. just remembered........ when i went back to see the doctor days later, i asked him what are cases from tourists that you see. he said the two most problems are drinking the water and eating the fish. eating the fish??? he explained that you shouldnt buy and eat the local fish caught in the lagoons. most of the resorts and homes at the water pipe in their sewers right into the water. the fish eat the poop, virus and bactera and then now you have it. that is the top two things that he see's. and the locals? he said, car accidents from drinking, fist fights (from drinking), alot of cancer patients and skin problems. life in paradise.....

WOW, Glen! So sorry you had such awful medical problems on your Moorea vacation; that is NOT a fun way to spend your time here! And I'm really sorry to have missed seeing you and Elma -- we'll just have to do it next time!

We went over to see the new Maeva center across the street from Club Bali Hai too -- great craftspeople there, everyone takes time to talk with you, and they are selling some lovely local items (along with the imported souvenirs from Indonesia too).

I know two people who were poisoned by the lagoon fish -- it's not a fun stomach ache, and can last several weeks. Most of the fish sold at the restaurants is from the ocean beyond the reef and is safe. If in doubt, ask if it's lagoon fish...

I'm still here on Moorea till the end of the week, and will add a trip report when I get home.

yeah, it really sucked big time. but at least i had some good days to enjoy. and those days were really good.....

elma works at the blue pineapple in Bali Hai. if your near there go say hi. she'll love it. if she's not there you can leave a message with Tiare or Gabby. she lives across the street anyhow. how's the weather on the westside for you?

yeah, mine too. i told my friends i'm not going to stay there anymore, esp. that i cant even get anymore discounts there. it's sad too. i've had so much fun there. alot of good memories.
one night me and elma went there for drinks and they didnt let us in at the gate. they said we have to make reservations first and since we didnt, we couldnt get in. I went "BALISTIC" on this security guard!!!! told him that i've been at that resort for over 15 years and put alot of money into it. i know all the people there. he said he didnt care, he was just doing his job.

well, that was it for me........

Sorry that on your trip you had some health issues. Getting old isn't any fun. 1/2 your parts hurt and the other 1/2 don't work.
Thanks for delivering the package for me. Some day in the future we will both be on Moorea at the same time and the Hinanos are on me.
