In response to Songo: We had considered Fare Tiki Hoa and made reservations with Michel, the proprietor. Then, as I got to thinking, we wanted to spend a fair amount of time exploring the villages and shopping rather than be remote. Since we were at Raimiti just before Rangi, we decided to stay in the village instead. When we were doing research on Tiki Hoa, I had read on a French (language) travel website that the food was not that good nor plentiful, and since there was no access to restaurants, that also was a reason to not stay there. Of course, use second or third hand information with a grain of salt. I guess if we had to be remote on Rangi, I would rather be at KOV. The positive side to Tiki Hoa is that its located probably about 20 to 25 minutes by boat from the beautiful Blue Lagoon. If I knew they could drop us off there each day for about six hours, I would stay at Tiki Hoa on our next trip.

In reply to auwe,
we do not need any shops nor big selection of restaurants (as long as the food is reasonable) nor entertainement, the less crowded the better. Do not need luxury (jacuzzi seems like a complete overkill, I went to the Maldives on a resort with Jacuzzi, never even thought of using it)but appreciate clean bungalow with own shower. The setting (location) is more important than any luxury.

I do want to dive (the reason for going Rangi) but my wife is not, and of course our small child neither. I plan to do 1 dive a day. Therefore it is important that while I'm away diving my wife and kid can stay on a nice beach without having to take a bike or car. This was why I asked about the distance to the beach (50 m seems ok)

Then go for pension Bounty: you will not regret! Close to a nice beach + close to diving school 6 passengers.
