That's right. The motel directions (online) say to turn right at the top of the stairs & walk a short distance. We almost missed the driveway because of that (I couldn't believe they meant the one straight across from the bus hut, but, fortunately, a guy was sitting there and pointed to it when we asked for the motel). The driveway might be a few meters to the right, but I wouldn't call it "down the road" at all. It's right there (I was going to say, "You can't miss it", but that's usually the kiss of death, isn't it?). It's not marked as far as we could tell (in the dark), but it's the only road/driveway that's right there.

We plan on staying here for our first night next November. I have filled out the online booking form and sent an email follow-up. No response for a couple of days. For you who have stayed there, how long did it take for them to get back to you with a confirmation? Or did the charge just appear on your cc and you showed up at the motel? Fran, Old Wife and holte, I'd be really interested in your experience with this place.

I can't remember how many days it took them to respond (I've deleted those emails), but I would give it a week or so before emailing them again to check that they got your reservations. I do know they charged my credit card fairly soon after I booked it (within 2 weeks, I think). By the way, the internet price is cheaper than they offer at the motel, but the motel price includes breakfast. They told us we could pay for the breakfast if we wanted, but we had a flight to Moorea so we just picked up a Croque McDo at the airport on our way out.
Editted to add---which islands/resorts are you visiting this time, DenverJoe (I'm living vicariously through you!).

Old wife, thanks for the reply. I'll give it some time as we're not in any rush. This year we go to Vahine Island for 4 days and then a secret spot on Moorea for 8 more. We have rented a villa with the wife's brother and sister-in-law. It's close to Fare Hamara on the bay.

Wow, that sounds wonderful, DenverJoe. I know someone recommended Vahine Island to me when we were planning our trip last year and I still sometimes feel we missed out not going there. But our budget was tight (we wanted to be able to go to Raimiti for 6-7 nights for sure) so we made other plans instead. I wish I lived closer to LA so flying there wasn't so long and expensive!

Never mind. I received a confirmation today and my cc was charged. So, we're all set.

Great! Doesnt't that always happen (just when you ask a question, it all falls into place)?
