We are going to Raimiti in late June. For those of you who have travelled there, is there anything that you wished that you had brought with you? Also, I am often cold, how will the water temps be for snorkeling?

Good question. First, thing we took & were glad we did:
our own snorkelling equipment
lots of sunscreen and clothes (for covering up while snorkelling)
bugspray
liquor (for me...I bought fruit juice for mix & hubby bought Hinanos daily)
books (some to leave behind...there are some in each bungalow, but in a mix of languages)
hats
sunglasses
(you really don't need much more than the above!)

Things we wished we'd brought:
Yahtzee score sheets (but I think someone's taking them there & leaving them before your trip--Patti maybe?)
One of those water-heating things someone else took with them. We shower first thing in the morning & the water's really cold (especially going down your back). I didn't realize I'd be such a wimp about it. Snorkelling first made a big difference, though, if you want to try that instead.

The lagoon water temperatures were nice and warm for us. I often wore a long-sleeved top to keep the sun off my arms & back, though. I'm not sure if that makes you warmer in the water or not.

We took both bug spray and after bite medicine.
Flashlights we took two "mini mags" and used them for
night time trips to the loo. A "Senior Citizen" must.
If your plane is late returning to Papeete and you have to
catch another Air Tahiti flight be sure to inform the ticket agents in Fakarava. They were very helpful as we were met as we got off the plane in Papeete then escourted to get our luggage first and then ran to Air Moorea.

I will be going in 2 weeks and I'll also give you an idea of what's necessary and what's not when I get back. I did buy 4 Yatzee score pads to leave there for future guests.

old wife...how much is fruit juice there? What kinds do they have? Do they mind you spiking it yourself with your booze? Or did you do it in private?

I am getting so exicted!! 2 weeks from tomorrow! Woo Hoo!

There was a flashlight in our bungalow already (we had packed one, but didn't take it out of the suitcase). Maybe someone had left one behind in ours? Fortunately, we didn't need any middle-of-the-night runs to the loo so it wasn't used. You don't need it (we took it the first evening just in case) for the walk back to the bungalow from the restaurant. The walkway is well-lit with solar lights.

We brought that solar shower bag, and it was the best thing to have. Made by Advanced Elements, you can order it online.
We also brought our own booze and juice (concentrate) - if you like a sunset/pre-dinner cocktail, it's better to make it yourself because the small staff tends to be busy with dinner preparation, so most nights there would be nobody to mix drinks at the bar. We mixed our drinks in the bungalow. One day Junior was cracking coconuts in the grove and we shared our bottle of gin with everyone to mix with the coconut water, mmm...
There's a flashlight in every bungalow but it's good to bring a couple of extra small flashlights.

We brought our own booze, and some light lawn chair pads. I left my bottle at the bar and just asked for a glass of ice before dinner. The pads worked well as the seats in the restuarant were a little hard on your rear end. We left the pads there. We also brought a mini mag light, but they have flashlights in every bungalow already.
One of the solar lights from the path in front of the bungalow had broken off the shaft and was just laying on some coral. I would pick this up every night when we returned from dinner and place it in the bathroom. I gave off plenty of light all night.
I'd put it back on the path to charge during the day. Better than just a flashlight for middle of the night trips.
We also brought mozzie coils we bought on previous trips. There were a couple of packs of coils in the bungalow already, but we kept one burning almost constantly. We placed the little burner that was there at the foot of the bed and that worked out well.

Joe~ So they have a little holder for the coils? I was going to bring a plate to put them on to catch the ashes, but if they have something I won't bother. I had planned on bringing my leftover coils too.

Hopefully your chair pads are still there, my hubby has back and hip problems, and no meat on his butt to cushion when he sits!

Patti, it's a piece of blue pottery that looks like it was made to hold the coils. Worked great. Top lifts off and has holes in it to spread the smoke. Pretty as well as functional. With a coil always going, we never had any mozzie problems.
I forget who was there just after us, but they said they used the seat pads also. So here's hoping. They make meals a little more comfortable.

That was us, DenverJoe. Yes, the seat pads were still there the end of November & very comfortable. I'd be really surprised if they weren't still there when you go, Patti.
