Different requirements for us as too. As you can probably tell, we were not overwater bungalow centric either.
For what faults we had with the Pearl resort. There was always an easy workaround. The Pearl resort food was passable. I'll save my foodie rant for another thread, but everything taste better on the privacy of your own deck, with additional bonus for being over the water.
Lina: Moorea will be a nice contrast after your cruise. To maximize your over water experience, defiantly go all out on the bungalow. At the Pearl, get the premium and make sure you get the ocean view. Not the resort view. Skip on the pool, you will be sleeping and lounging over a much larger semi-private one.

I finally booked, 4 nights at the pearl premium owb. YAY!! no more thinking about this, now jsut planning a great stay.
