We have experienced very pleasant helpful service at the Intercontinental. We have heard some good and some bad things about the Sheraton (depending who is managing it at the time), but have never stayed there. We know some local people who work at the Pearl, which is a smaller resort than the other two, and they are trained to and try to give friendly personalized service. The reviews on the Sofitel since its update are not as good as they used to be, service-wise.
Hope this helps!

It does depend on the managers. About a year ago the Sheraton Moorea had an excellent manager and he left. The new one is not all that great. He is over his head in my opinion. The front desk at the InterConti is helpful but the conceirge guy is terrible. Pearl resort has a good staff. Its all hit or miss. It best if you find what you want to do and arrange it yourself. Cheaper and easier and you get what you expected

I agree wholeheartedly with Pacific Andy that it depends on the manager. The Sheraton manager that Andy was talking about was excellent. We were in a scooter accident on Moorea in 2004 and he drove over to the hospital to check on us, gave us a ride to the pharmacy to pick up medication and then took us back to the hotel - an incredibly caring gesture. More recently, I found the staff at the Kia Ora to be outstanding and on our last trip, we had very good service from both the Te Tiare staff and the Tahiti Le Meridien staff.

Te Tiare staff has always been great. Hotel Bora Bora and my new favorite is Bora Bora Cruises. Still to date the Sheraton Tahiti is by far the worse staff

We had good service at the Sheraton, even from the lady who runs the excursion desk. Others said she was rude and less-than-helpful. I agree that Club Bali Hai has some very friendly employees there. Sometimes the level of service you get depends on your approach to the staffers. You should always attempt to greet people in French or Tahitian, try speaking in French (and the staffers will probably realize you're American and revert to English), speak slowly, and avoid demands. Life on the islands is just a little slower and laid back. We found people on Mo'orea to be very friendly versus some that we've encountered on BB.
