Well, I have learned so much from this forum and I am getting so excited for my first trip to FP. I have some ideas in mind and was wondering what everyone's opinions were. The trip is our honeymoon (destination a secret to my fiance) and we are spending 11 nights in FP (6 on Moorea and 5 on Fakarava).

We arrive in Tahiti at 9:30pm and may stay at the Hotel Le Mandarin for the night. Wake up, do some quick shopping at the market and then take the ferry over to Moorea. (1st question - change $$ into XPF in Tahiti or Moorea and where?) We have the Beach Studio reserved at Linareva. We are the aventerous types and love to explore. I am planning a spa visit, many sunset cocktails, boat rental for moto exploring, lots of snorkeling at various beaches (our favorite!), drive around the island to find remote beaches. We plan on cooking some nights and eating out some. This may depend on how successful my lobster hunting and spearfishing is (any intel here would be appreciated). I was thinking we would veg out a couple of days at Linareva before renting a car. Is this feasible? Soud like a good start. OK, part 2...
Ferry back to Tahiti and fly to Fakarava for 5 nighta at Raimiti.
Here I think we will just wing it every day.

In addition to the above questions, does anyone have any leads on legitimate sport fishing boats on Moorea?

Your thoughts and advice is appreciated.
Best regards,
Eric

Exchange your money at the airport after your arrival and at a bank on Moorea before you head to Raimiti.
Good luck lobster hunting and spearfishing. Car Rental
www.avis-tahiti.com The nearest Avis to the
Linareva will be across the road from the old Club Med.
Sport Fishing on Moorea. I'm sure Barbi will post you info regarding fishing.

Consider www.raimiti.com The food is outstanding and it is owned by the same guys who own Linareva. I have yet to hear of a bad review regarding Raimiti.

I have been in touch with Raimiti but was just looking into other options. $450+USD a night is pretty steep. The reality of the cost of this trip is setting in...

The longer you stay at Raimiti, the cheaper it becomes! That's why we stayed 6 nights (we wanted to stay 7, but the international flights didn't work with that). And don't forget everything's included except drinks (though you get free coffee with breakfast & free water all the time)--shelter, food, excursions are all included. I think it worked out to $350/night Cdn when we paid for it last spring (and the Cdn $ wasn't very high at that point).

Old Wife: I do realize the price gets cheaper but for 5 nights it is still pretty expensive ($400-$455 a night depending on the bungalow).
Barbi: Sent you an email, thanks :~)
Jayprose: I will try very hard to remember to leave you a note! Remind me when it gets closer!!
