Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any pictures of the pearl resort in Moorea? Just went on the tube and saw some videos and the water didn't seem so clear, got a little disappointed...and the official picture sites are always beautiful. Just hoping that I made the right choice in booking. Thanks

I assume you have already tried searching for "Moorea pearl resort" on Flickr?
The water at the Pearl has a slight haze. It also does not help that the ocean floor here does not have the crushed white coral to reflect light. The light reflecting off the sea floor helps create those amazing photos you seen in the travel magazines.
If you have underwater activates or excursions available at any of your other destinations. Defiantly take advantage of them before you arrive in Moorea.
The Moorea Pearl Resort itself is not a "world class" location for SCUBA or snorkeling. You might get lucky and encounter some interesting wildlife swimming, sea turtles and the such, in the drop-off beyond the overwater bungalows. But the quantity and diversity of fish, while present, is lacking in comparison to other locations.
Overall, I found the Moorea Pearl Resort a very difficult subject to photograph. There's not much on the resort grounds that is travel magazine photo material. None the less, this is still an above average resort that resides in the shadow of its siblings Bora Bora and the Pearl in Tahaa.

Thanks, I will be visiting the other islands when I'm on the cruise. I just really wanted to experirnce the owb, and I really didnt want to pay an extra $700 a person for Boro Boro but now I'm doubting my decision. I still want a beautiful view!! Not familiar with flicker, do i just google that?

For many of us "old timers" who can remember the island before it had a single hotel on any motu it's called Boring Boring.

"Google it". Annoying as it might be, the Flicker name is misspelled as "Flickr". I also found on Google itself, two different image databases. One is a public image database, click the "images" link on the Google home page. And the other is via Picasa web albums (http://picasaweb.google.com/home). Flickr and Picasa are very popular sites for posting honeymoon pictures.
"Boring Boring", that's what some people think of the Tuamotu Archipelago. Amazing and affordable accommodations out in the middle of nowhere. But for some, that's a big plus!

We stayed at the Moorea Pearl site twice when it was Hotel Bali Hai. The water off the beach and around the overwater bungalows is not that stunning, like Bora Bora or the Tuamotus, but if you take one of the outrigger canoes out toward the reef you can find nice coral heads and white sand - the beautiful turquoise water - we saw lots of fish out there and a ray once. And the view of Moorea is fantastic. We did this almost every day and were never disappointed.

the moorea pearl is a lovely hotel. i was there in june for my honeymoon. the water is warm like a bath and very clean. if you are looking for that bright blue sparkling water you wont see it at the pearl. the hotel however has the best location on the island. there is a market with shops and stores and a great place to get breakfast there. we didnt eat one meal at the hotel in the 5 nights we were there except for lunch one day.
There are spots on moorea with beautiful blue water. however to truly get that pristine blue water you will have to stay in bora bora
enjoy the pearl. we sure did
check out trip advisor for pics of the hotel from travelers

I havent bought a meal plan yet, everyone is saying there are so many great places to eat...however not doing the meal plan how much am i looking at for each day if we always eat out? So you don't think I should upgrade to Bora Bora? I will be visiting Bora Bora on the Paul Gaugin cruise that were doing pre resort... I just hope I'm not disapointed looking out of my powb at the pearl wishing I had just paid extra to do bora bora. Oh God, wedding decisions!!
