I've never been to Le Mayflower but I'll have to try it this fall since everyone seems to be putting it at the top of their list. Les Nouveaux Mondes was open when I was there April 2007. The owner was a Spanish man - very friendly. He waited on us while we ate. Coconut curry shrimp were very good and poisson cru was excellent.

Seems like I'm always jumping in late on a topic but I've always advocated no meal plans. You can always order off the menu at the restaurants on your own, and as said by many of us, breakfast (Cont Breakfast) portions tend to be large. Old Wife and others said it well about other options. Don't worry (aita pe'a pe'a) - you won't go hungry and you don't have to spend an arm and a leg if you follow everyone's advise.

Mayflower is really good. Kind of far from everything but a real good place to eat very friendly and not too expensive

Just got back from the Sheraton and had the breakfast and dinner meal plan. It was okay - nothing to write home about. We ended up going out for dinner a few times as the menu was the same for the 6 days we were there and was very limited. I would not recommend doing the meal plan at all.

Kully, glad to see that you finally got to go. Can't wait to read the trip report and see some pictures.

Hi All - We are planning our 3rd trip to Tahiti and would appreciate any comments about the island of Moorea and the best resort there. On our first trip in 1999 we stayed at Le Meriden in Tahiti and Huahine. The second trip in 2002 was Bora Bora, Huahine and Tahiti. We definitely missed out not seeing Moorea and now we must! Thank you. Jo Ann M.

The Sheraton is the best location for snorkeling and I like it the best at of the major hotels. The Sofitel is new but have not stayed but have visited. I think the Sheraton is the best on Moorea.

Thanks PA - I value your input, especially the ones you make about Te Tiare and Huahine. It's our favorite island and resort of all. Jo Ann M.

Lunfa,

Great advise from the forum members above....and my compliments on your choice of hotel.

Be sure to take a copy of the "Un-official Tahiti Information List".....you'll find it in the "Food, Activities and Excursions" section of the forum.

FYI - our first trip over was for our honeymoon as well.

Have a great honeymoon.....FP will live in your hearts forever!!
