I have never stayed at the Sheraton, so I have no answer there. But I have stayed at the Intercontinental twice and it is a beautiful hotel. Very comfortable beds, very clean rooms and grounds. Pleasant, helpful staff. I would not hestitate staying there at all.
How long? Just one night or for a few days?

Just 1 night... before heading for the princess cruise and 3 nights in Moorea.
I was thinking the Sheraton for Both (tahiti and moorea).

I have stayed at both and prefer the Intercontinental. But perhaps you will get a discount by staying at the same Sheraton chain on both islands?

Depends on what you are planning to do while there. I've stayed at both. The IC is a much nicer hotel for sure, but Sheraton is more convenient to get into town since there is a Le Truck stop right outside and/or is a shorter cab ride, and although not as nice as the IC, it's still a nice hotel. There have been some mixed reviews about service which is probably the biggest pitfall. If you have an early flight the next day and are just going to sleep then leave, the $140 savings can go towards something else on your trip- like a meal or excursion. If you plan to utilize the amenities of the resort- pool etc, or if you want the nicest possible surroundings and the money isn't an issue, then the IC is the way to go.

Totally makes sense!
Many thanks for your reply. Probably we will choose Sheraton then...
Thanks

For just an overnight stay. I'd go with whatever is the cheapest. No point on spending extra at this point of your journey.
We overnighted at the Intercontinental. Took a quick dip in the pool after arriving at 11pm. Did a brisk walk of the resort grounds in the morning, explored the poolside waterfall, took a few photos, and then we were out of there. The whole stay was pretty much a blur. Did not have enough time to rate the service.
Going with the Sheraton appears to be a good plan. Question: Is there easy access to a market from the Sheraton?

Just across the street is a little strip mall. I think there is a small store in there. I know a few stores are within walking distance but they are small stores.
