People...
Thank god for this forum and you guys provide me with the best insight. We are staying for a couple of days in Moorea for our honeymoon.
We want an OWB, but we are uncertain whether we should choose Intercontinental or Sheraton. I have read the posts and it seems that Sheraton is the way to go.
What are your recommandations?

Only a few of the OWB at the Intercontinental are true OWB (the rest are on little 'islands' with their fronts over the water. The snorkelling is also better at the Sheraton. We loved our beach bungalow at the Intercontinental (and the ability to walk to Le Petit Village from there), but if you're looking for an OWB, the Sheraton is a better choice, in my opinion.

I agree to Old Wife to a certain degree...
Some of the OWB at the Sheraton are 100% over the water but the only thing you can see from your room is a 180 degrees view of the front of the bungalow. There are no lateral or back windows to give you the actual feeling of being "totally" over the water.
I stayed with my family in a 50% over the water bungalow at the InterContinental and we felt 100% "over the water" during the whole stay.
There is an important difference in price so if that is a factor you should consider both options before you decide.
And last but not least: keep in mind how close the OWB are one from the other during your regular in-room honeymoon "activities"... Island bungalows are a little more "private"...
Where do I agree with Old Wife? If money is not a concern go for the best!

Sheraton is more expensive then IC. So you are saying that IC is cheaper and better?

In this case, there is no such a thing as "better"... It hardly depends on what you want and how much you are willing to spend to get it.
You are going for a honeymoon.
I went with my whole family which included my little Bianca (6. y.o. at the time). InterContinental was the only one hotel in Moorea to accept four people in the same room at no extra charge (huge savings...). It had the Dolphin Quest, where Bianca could swin with a dolphin without even having to leave the hotel. My HOWB (half-over water bungalow ;-)) was perfect for the four of us. By being close to the island, water underneath our balcony was not that deep. We were close to everything.
So for a family with children I would strongly recommend the InterContinental but that is NOT your case...
I was just pointing out that I personally could not justify the price of an OWB at the Sheraton when compared to a HOWB at the InterContinental. We actually liked the latest better...

I know the Sheraton has the windows in the floor to see the water and sealife underneath. It makes a great water rippling effect on the ceiling at night when the light is on under the bungalow. It's really not a big deal to have the window in the floor but some people like that.

I have stayed at both many times. I prefer the Sherton. Better snorkeling, better views, better beach and better pool. The rooms are smaller at the Sheraton and the are closer together, but I like the feeling there much more than InterConti. InterConti seems a little more slow or missing some kind of atmosphere and the beach is OK. But really both are great hotels and it all depends on what you want
