Hear that Eden Parc is in dissrepair..What happened and is it true and is it closed?

We were in Huahine at Christmas time and Eden Parc was closed because they are not open at that time. I had heard that the owner had moved operations to Tahiti because there wasn't interest in his operation in Huahine.. But when I was in the tourist office in Fare, there were piles of brochures for Eden Parc! I had not seen those brochures in the tourist center in past years, so I am assuming that it is in operation again. I didn't ask as the brochure indicated that it wasn't open at the dates we were in Huahine.

When we were in Huahine in April, we were also told it was closed and when we drove by it did indeed look that way. Jayprose- please post back here when you come back if you find out any news.

just saw on the Tahiti Sun Travels site that as of November 07 it was overgrown and closed .. poor us

Yes, we did. We went in February, maybe 4 years ago? Can't remember. At any rate, it was kind of cloudy that day and we walked up through the paths to the overlook. I had on my gardening sandals called Sloggers, and I had to take them off and walk barefoot as they were too slippery as the ground was slippery in places. It was a hot, jungle walk but there were no mosquitoes. And believe me, I am the mosquito magnet of the world. When I am in FP, strangers comment on the mosquito bites I have because a lot of them are on my face-cute look. I don't remember the price, but it wasn't much and it was used to support the work there. He had a booklet with all of the plants listed and their uses that one could look at on the self guided tour. I wanted to go back in the evening and eat there, but we never did. I don't know where the time goes in FP. But I figured I could do it the next year. A lesson to be learned to take advantage when something is there, because it may not be the next time. Huahine Camping which is the former Aurriea (sp!!) camping, has the traditional medicinal plants of Polynesia there. They had been moved from another location when we were there a couple of years ago, and it was not quite ready then. We stopped in for a very short while and Hubert Bremond pointed out some of the ancient medicinal trees and plants that were on the property at the time. In December this year, we ran out of time , but I do plan on going next December( I hope that the American dollar is worth something! Getting scary!) There was no charge a couple of years ago, but donations are advised. It is on Huahine Iti, not too far from Relais Mahana.

Disappointing. I had planned on going there on my first trip and never made it. On my second trip, I saw some brochures at the car rental place and even though the guy behind the counter thought they might be closed, I took a drive by anyway. Sure enough - closed. I would have like to have seen it. Maybe I'll check out the other place if it is still open when I finally get back there.

I have been going to Huahine for years and never seen it open. Its always looked like its been out of operation for years. I know tourism and the economy on Huahine is very very low. People are hurting on the island. Maybe we need to revive the Huahine Beach Resort
