I would be very surprised if its ready by July 2008 as we were just there last week. Of all the resorts on Moorea it would be the last place I would suggest anyone would want to stay.

Its not on the beach but in the hills. A long long walk up and down a steep hill. It could be interesting and the rates with a family are pretty good. But it would require at least a car to just get up and down the hill. You can also purchase these if you want.

That is if you like to roller skate on GRAVEL. They claim you get a 6% return on your purchase. I would not want to pay for the maintance on a house built on stilts.

Hello everyone - i have been looking for somewhere to stay where i can admire the island rather than the sea - it is our first time in FP (its our honeymoon)and Moorea does look so beautiful on photos. fellow forum writers suggeted that the only places we can stay with a view onto the mountains are Club Bali Hali or Kaveka - but Legends sounds as it may have some villas facing the hills with good views...so please do tell me Hamara and Poehere, why would you advise against staying there please? Do the villas have views onto the hills? We will just be there for a few days to recover from the flight from london and to use it as a base to see the island on a 4x4 tour before we move on to mahini or KOS so beaches arent that important. thanks for your advice

Nope. They face the lagoon. In fact they look out right over the Intercontinental.
The only other thing you might want to consider is to rent a house. I know of 2 in Oponohu Bay that may have a nice view of the mountains. You might want to check them out. Fare Hamara (yes, that's Hamara's house) and Robinson's Cove. Robinson's Cove is on water and Fara Hamara is up on the side of the hill just a bit.
Here's a photo I took of the Legends Resort..

You can see the mountains from some of the bungalows at the Intercontinental. Look at a map & see which are oriented more sideways. Every day that we stepped out of our beach bungalow (wich faced the lagoon), we gasped at the view of the mountains behind us. I expect some of the OW bungalow would have a great view of them from their decks. It's a large resort, though (but we found in quite quiet and we didn't see a lot of other guests except at the pool).

Definitely look at www.farehamara.com. It is built onto the mountain and has wonderful view of the bay and the mountains on the other side of the bay, as well as being surrounded by the mountain. It is a wonderful house too!
If you are looking for an upscale resort, I too agree that the Moorea Intercontinental has some breathtaking mountain views...

I don't like sleeping in a double bed is the main reason I don't like them.
