On our inter-island flight from PPT to BB (Bora Bora pass - not booked yet) we have the option of stopping off in Raiatea around 9:00 - 10:00am and flying to Bora Bora around 7:00pm. Is it worth it to do this? Or should we just go straight to Bora Bora? We thought an excursion in Raiatea would be nice. We've heard that West Coast Excursions is located right at the airport in Raiatea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :-D

When are you going? We're spending some time on Raiatea in June so can give you better input then.
We did visit for a day in Sept 2006....and really liked what we saw! We rented a scooter and went to the old marae, had some cold beers at the little hotel adjacent, visited a vanilla plantation, and hung-out in fun Utaroa. There is a river trip one can make and also a day excursion that takes you to some snorkeling spots around Raiatea and Tahaa.

We will be there on June 29th. Our only concern is what to do with the luggage after we get off the plane. We plan to take a tour and the tour group is located at the airport. Hopefully either the airport or the tour group has a secure place for us to store the luggage.

Well, in Raiatea on 16 June so we can email you about storage facilities at the airport. Have you emailed the tour company yet regarding their ability to keep your luggage secure while you are on tour?
There might be some Heiva activitities going on while you are there that would add even more to your Raiatea experience. What tour are you taking? We might want to do that while we are on Raiatea too!

We booked L'excursion Bleue with Bruno (http://www.tahaa.net/) They will be taking care of our luggage. I've seen posts stating that Bruno's tour is probably one of the most expensive at $120 per person but they have a fantastic website with great descriptions of what the tour includes. They also have a fantastic photo album. The ability to book online was also very convenient and less costly then calling to FP to book with someone else.

My attitude with this trip is not to worry about the $$$. It's not like some ho-hum trip to the Caribbean or something. After all this is probably one of the most beautiful places on the planet! We plan to make the most of it!

Read your post and am glad that you booked with Bruno as we have heard great things about him and his tour. Terrific that he will be mindful of your flight arrival time and store your luggage.
You are really getting a great overview of FP I think and certainly have a terrific attitude!
