I have been trying to make a reseravtion at the IC Thalasso for early next year using points. There are no reward dates past 11/30/08 in their computer. Is this typical or indicitve of a change? If typical, when do they start putting next years dates in?

I basically have the same problem and question.... I did fax and email the question to the hotel, but no response. I emailed IC and they basically said wait a while and check again... so I booked Le Moana (which is available) and will change to thalasso if it become available. IC told me my points would be redeposited almost immediately when I cancel at Le Moana.

Priorityclub requires that all the properties place their available reward units in the system 350 days in advance. For some reason Thelasso doesn't seem to pay attention to this. I booked using my points last July for this June/July. At that time Papeete, Moorea and Le Moana were all available. So I booked all three. I booked Le Moana so I would definitely have something in Bora Bora.
After speaking to several PC reps about Thelasso not placing their units into the system I came to the conclusion that Thelasso management doesn't want to have people using reward nights at their property...
They finally placed the rooms into the system on Sept 24th and I made the changes.
I would book the Le Moana and then watch for the Thelasso every day. The drawback to the Thelasso though is that they only allow you to book the 2 bedroom family suites using rewards points. These are not over the water and are closer to the ocean side rather than the lagoon. I suggest using 24,000 points to become an Embassador member. This requires them to upgrade you by one catagory which would be an emerald OWB. Also you get a buy one weekend night get the second free coupon (expires in 6 months) and a voucher for 5000 PC points.
Hope this helps! :-)

Helps a lot! Hope you will update when your return in July. Did they confirm your upgrade or will you wait until you arrive to request it? Thanks

Well, the Thalasso is available again using points for most dates. Its the same number of points as Le Moana, where my wife wants to stay. After reading all the post in the thread "points close to InterContinental Thalasso" where they all seem to start with "take the boat to Le Moana" I'm thinking maybe she's right. We are only there 4 nts anyhow.

Frank the Moana is right in the middle of the Matira beach "action" and indeed saves you from having to take a boat shuttle each time you want to do something on the main island. Rooms are not comparable though between Thalasso and Moana, quite a difference there. All depends how much you want to do outside of the resort and if the room/amenities are highly important

Thanks for the info. We live in FL and go to HI every winter (we are going to FP from HI) my wife's point is if we just want an extra nice resort to spend time at, no need to leave FL or HI. I guess I also am starting to agree with her because we are going in Jan. If its rainy and we are at Le Moana we could still make it to places outside the hotel, where at Thalasso we probably wouldn't take the boat in the rain and so we would be stuck there. We don't work or have any real responsibilities so we are not just looking to relax or chill out. I don't know, I guess I don't care and my wife does, so might as well make her happy.

That sounds like the right choice to me then, Frank. There's lots to go and explore on Matira Point and nearby. You'll also feel more like you're on Bora Bora instead of a secluded resort. Many people want only luxury and seclusion, but you sound like you'd prefer activities and you'll have quick access to them from the Moana.
