There is very little nightlife in the islands. The island of Tahiti will probably be your only chance for finding any nightlife. There are also a few restaurants on Moorea that have some local entertainment a couple nights a week.

Claudio, there's couple of nice places... however you'd need to know about the "she = a he" and the "he = a she" before you venture in there! I'll explain tomorrow

In Tahiti there are men who dress and act as women. You just have to know which one you are dealing with if you venture out to the bars and clubs.

Claudio, Polynesian culture has 2 phenomena: the "Rae Rae" a transvestite either already built around or not, specially at night time hard to distinguish as the he/she is really looking gorgeous, beautifully coifed and manicured, waxed, dressed to the nine’s and behaves like a girl all around, so when he/she spots a “victim” the he/she is really just out to get your money so beware and there are plenty around especially Bar Taina, Piano bar (central Papeete area at night) ! The "Mahu" is a male, dressed as a female but in a way you that you can tell easily, they are very gentle and kind persons and you’ll find a lot of them working as a maître d' in restaurants and so on.
Couple of nightclubs:Be Angel, Club 106, le Manhattan, Metropolis, Paradise Night, all in Papeete (be aware of the above)
You have Morrison's café on the top of the Vaima center, trois brasseurs, café les négociants, Mana Rock café, also in Papeete, easy going with life music on certain nights
Marina Taina (Western side of Tahiti, down from the Interncontinental ) Casa Bianca and le quai des îles, very lively and fun

Moorea: no nightclubs, some restaurants offer life music certain nights and the hotels have Polynesian shows
Bora Bora: 1 "nightclub" Le Récif definitely would NOT venture in there! Your best bet would be the Club Med, Fri/sat night or a place that used to be called Bamboo house, which is now being build into a cocktail bar, may be open by the time you get to Boring Bora LOL
