A day in Moorea?

We'll have 2 nights in Tahiti in December, and I'm musing about taking the ferry for the day. I know Moorea reasonably well from past cruises, and we rented a car once, but I've not arrived by ferry before. Is renting a car for the day the only alternative? What's around the ferry dock itself? Can we arrange for tour operators to pick us up there, for example?

Le truck isn't reliable....or maybe I should say it has a schedule that isn't published......that I could find anyway. There's not much by the ferry dock. What are you looking to do? Hamara's sugggestion for Albert's is a good one. Are you looking to shop or ????

there is also a company called "moorea explorer" they do island tours as well, car rentals at the ferry dock: avis and europcar, there is nothing much around the area of Vaitape (ferry dock) you could walk (pfffffff hot) to the sofitel, count 20 minutes
check ferry schedule if going on Sunday, only 1 ride in the morning and couple of rides back to Tahiti end of afternoon/early evening

Vaitape, Sundays: car ferry ppt-moo 9h30 (Moorea Ferry, 60 min), Aremiti car ferry 7h45 (Aremiti is little faster 45 min)

Poehere, what about Catamarran Aremiti 4........does that go at 9 am on Sunday? We are talking about 1 June.

Vaitape It is actually Aremiti 5 now (newer and biggerrrr), dep from Papeete 9 AM Sundays, ps listen to the security instructions while it leaves the harbour, that is my (husky or horrible...hihi) voice LMAO

Poehere, We have a very ambitious itinerary that we planned almost 18 months ago......BFD (Before Failure of Dollar!). Almost cancelled several times but decided that since we are alive and kicking now, we might as well go.
Leaving here on 31 May, overnight in Papeete, then 2 weeks Moorea, 1 week Raiatea, 1 week Tahaa, 3 nights back on Raiatea, Huahine for 2 weeks, Papeete for 2 nights, and Rurutu for 7 nights and then home on 27 July.
I'll be listening for your voice on that ferry!
