We are returning to BB in approximately two weeks and are looking to make reservations in the next day or so. We had a great rate of $3300 at the BBLR overwater bungalow, but I have not been to this resort in 14 years, other than to have dinner. Other choices would be the Nui or the St. Regis. We were unimpressed with the Pearl 4 years ago. We are looking to be able to snorkel, and something that is accessible to town. Is BBLR really that bad now? Have renovations been completed? Any help would be fantastic!

That must have been in the old Nara days, prior to when the BBLR was taken over by the Orient Express group! Renovations were completed in 2002 but the resort is for sale now (open until fall)
St Regis is way out and not much in terms of snorkling it will take you 20 minutes by shuttle to Vaitape
BBNui is on the same motu as BBLR but on the other side, have you tried to get a good rate at the HBB ?? might as well enjoy their fab reputation before is closes. All depends on what you expect in terms of luxury/rooms

Is BBLR the Bora bora Lagoon Resort?
so you mean it's only open until fall?

I am planning to go either for Xmas or during thanksgiving break. Got some quotes for the Bora Bora Lagoon~~

why wouldn't they tell me if they are planning to close down? >.<

Thanks for the info. I think that we've decided on the Nui since it is still closer to town and the OW at the BBLR are now gone. We also may have to change plans from Tahaa to St. Regis or Huanine. Tahaa has become sooooo expensive! Best resort I've been to, but since I've been there already, not sure it's worth the money to go again.

Avitas, sorry i was doing some cutting pasting, BBLR is for sale but still operating (orient express group), HBB is open until fall (1 oct). BBLR must have some good deals as residents are offered 12.500 cfp a night rate, never seen that before at least it allows us to get a taste of "paradise" as well lol. Thankgsgiving will be cheaper then Xmas

Haredi, the OW are still there at the BBLR and BBNui is a little further away (them being on the other side of the motu Toopua), nowadays when you take the shuttle they will drop you off at the new pier (boat docking) at the Robert Wan boutique iso the main dock in Vaitape but is right next door, same for St Regis guests.

Poehere, Thanks for the info. For BBLR, I meant they were sold out for our time frame. The rates they are having are having a huge impact on their availability! I had found a deal for pay 3, stay 5. Within 2 days, the bungalows were sold out for my dates. We decided on the Nui, because it is a Starwood property and because the privacy from what I understand is better in the OWB's at BBLR.

BTW, do you have any suggestions on the best way to make reservations at La Villa Mahana? It was booked our last trip and we would really like to go this time.

Poehere, we do have confirmed reservation through Starwood. My husband called VM and we were able to get the last table they had available during our entire stay. I will definitely try Matira this time. Do we need to make reserv. there?

Resa is recommended, I don't know if you remember Gilles, the former gérant of the Kaina Hut...? He is now the maître d'h at the restaurant Matira, $$$$ though but food is very good. Another nice place is the St James in Vaitape, the old Pirate bar, has a waterfront bar and terrace, good dining too (former Top Dive chef) but very small portions. Good try (romantic...?!!!) is the Sunset boulevard, they'll serve you sushi etc. and then take you out on the boat to watch the sunset.
All can be reserved through the concierge at the BBN. Enjoy!

Hi I was just wondering why you weren't impressed by the Pearl.
I'm heading there in August.
Thanks
