Lina, if you haven't been to Bora Bora, it should be fine. However, for our first time there, we stayed at BBLR and the convenience into Viatape was so much better. It took forever to get anywhere from the drop off point of the Pearl. In addition, we had a great OWB, but we had the cruise ships 4 out of 5 night shining their lights on the back of the ship into our room. This also affected our privacy.

Also, four years ago the snorkeling off the OWB was nonexistent if that is important to you. The breakfast and bar were not very good either. In fact, we didn't eat dinner there once, and only had one lunch.

I would get some other opinions though. This was our experience after having been to the island before. We had very high expectations based on our honeymoon ten years prior.

Poehere,

Thanks for the tips! We are planned out every night but two now. We will use your suggestions for those nights!

Does the Pirate Bar do lunch? I think we may have been there last time and the food was fantastic!

The old pirate bar is now called St James (different owners) in the small commercial centre they close Sun/Mon, yes they do lunch but as said $$$$ and unfortunately very small portions (good though but big guys leave hungry LMAO)

BTW if you like Chinese, le Panda d'or is great and not expensive (not very cozy though) but delicious food and great portions, just close the eyes and let the tastebuds do the work...

Poehere,

Tried St. James for lunch. Food was good and after spending $25 for cheeseburgers at the hotel, the prices there were not any more pricey. The service was awful though.

Yep I can imagine Haredi what those hotel prices are in $$$ nowadays, wow. Unfortunately the word "service" does seem to have another meaning here...

Hi Lina,

Just in reply to your post - we have been to Tahiti several times staying at Club Med BB, Le Meridien BB, Pearl BB, Le Tahaa, IC Moorea, IC Thalasso BB and IC Tahiti. We thought BB Pearl was a fantastic resort - great service, good food and the Assistant Manager when we were there in 2006 was truly driven to give all guests his personal attention and service. We stayed in O/W Bungalow #35 and there was a cruise ship in at the time we were there but never had any of the problems that were mentioned above. Also, the shuttle service to Vaitape was organised very well with the timetable clearly showing when the mini bus meets the shuttle boat from Pearl to then take you on to Vaitape (only a 10 minute trip into town). If you have any other questions or would like more details on the shuttle service etc please email me at zod066@yahoo.com.au

Guess that was the Bora Bora lagoon resort, indeed cruiseships go for anchor right in front and i can imagine that would give some light problems or whatever, same problem for the BBLR is the Heiva, in BB it starts the 20th June until end of July and the dancing, singing and disco's etc is right across as well in Vaitape...

Hi Lina. We were actually in POWB 35. It was (in our opinion) the most private. I've included a link to our photos here

http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?mode=fromshare&Uc=k69aelt.y2013gd&Uy=-na5z3a&Ux=0

We had a meal plan (half board) so we only ate in the Pearl restaurant, other than the odd cheeseburger or hotdog in Vaitape. The food there was awesome (try the Venison). Seafood night is not to be missed either.

I don't know if you are a diver or not, but Blue Nui was right up there. I would highly recommend them.

If you are in a POWB at the end of the pontoon, then keep an eye out for the odd stingray and small black tip reef shark - we had 2 swim under the room as we were feeding the fish through the coffee table!

You'll have a great time as soon as you adapt to "island time". Looking forward to your trip report.
