I don't think I've ever heard of a Ford Fiesta! But then again, that's not uncommon for them to have cars over there that we've never seen before! But either way, $550 for 10 days is not bad considering the going rates over there.

We know a couple who had a Fiesta. Let's just say they are a very compact/economy car. They had a second child and decided to get another compact/larger car. Four adults could fit in the Fiesta, but it will be VERY tight. And there's very little area behind the back seat.

The Ford Fiesta's in Tahiti are made in Australia. Good gas mileage. It seats four but has very little luggage space.

You can have a look at the Fiesta here:

If you think this is small, in Europe Ford offers another even smaller car type

Leg room for the back seat passengers in a Fiesta would be very tight. You would have room in the trunk for day touring but not be able to transport the 4 of you and your luggage to and from the airport or ferry to your hotel or pension. Unless at least 2 of you are short and slender people and you would not get the car until at your lodging I think you would want a larger vehicle.

Would a Peugeot 307 be better? Or would this car also be small?
Thank you all for your advice.

Kathy Z actually brings up a very good point. We are going to be staying our first night on Tahiti and then going to Moorea the next day. Do most people just rent a car on Tahiti, drive to their hotel there, and then take the car over to Moorea with them? Or do people take a taxi to the hotel on Tahiti, another taxi from the hotel to the ferry terminal on Tahiti, take Le Truck or something similar from the ferry terminal on Moorea to their hotel/pension, and then rent a car from there? It seems like all of those taxi rides, plus the ones in reverse, would get rather expensive.
BTW, we will be staying at the Sheraton on Tahiti.

When I mentioned passage to and from the airport or ferry I was only thinking of the airport or ferry terminal on Moorea. I have no idea of what it would cost to ferry a rental car from Tahiti to Moorea if that is even allowed. I just did not know which mode of transportation you and your friends were taking from Tahiti to Moorea. We rented a car for just 24 hours on Moorea and easily did that by walking across the street from the Pearl where we stayed and renting from Alberts. We can drive manual transmission and it was only the two of us so our minimum requirement was that the car be equipped with AC.

This web site will give you an idea of one way rates to Moorea. http://moorea.berkeley.edu/traveling/flying/interisland.html/#aremiti
Most people take a taxi or arrange for other transportation to a hotel on Tahiti and to the ferry dock the next morning and then rent a car on Moorea.

Okay, thank you for the info. After doing a little more research it sounds like we can get a car for the time that we're on Moorea and just use Le Truck on Tahiti.
