Can anyone tell me if you can see Mt. Otemanu from any of the Nui dlx. OWB suites? I was thinking that you might have a partial view from 105 or 106, but was unsure. If not, does anyone have any suggestions? We were able to get the two bedroom family suite at the Thalasso for points, so just in case we can't get an upgrade to an OWB there, we would like to make sure that we have a great one at the Nui.
Also, at Tahaa, we had OWB #7 the last time we were there. I don't really want to pay the premium there this time for the BB side. Has anyone stayed in the regular view (Tahaa) OWB? Is there sun? Any suggestions on room numbers?
Leaving on the 2nd, so any advice would be wonderful!

I don't know if you remember this from your last time at the Tahaa, but the Tahaa side isn't super private. The beach/restaurant are on that side -- the decks on that side are mostly exposed to everyone frolicking on the beach.
If you're traveling with your kids (is that why you have the family suite?), maybe that would be an advantage, though. You're definitely much closer to the coral gardens, pool, etc. I seem to remember the decks on that side being in sun while we were there, depending on the time of day.

Thanks! I do. But the resort was so quiet, that we really didn't see anyone. I wrote to the resort, and they suggested for privacy getting the end of pontoon. The trip is for our anniversary and 40th birthday's, so I'm considering splurging for the extra $. We are getting breakfast included, so it's a little less. Not to mention that my husband was not overly impressed with the Bora Bora view since the island is so far away.
We are not bringing the kids, but had seriously considered it. The key is going to be keeping in touch with them for 10 days! Not exactly the most convenient place on earth to keep in touch with people in the states.

Privacy is really important to my husband and I, even though we don't do anything out on the deck that would shock or upset anyone. It's just that for us, part of the "Tahiti" experience is that sense of having our own little piece of paradise entirely to ourselves (except for the occasional passing kayak). We live in a crowded area, so maybe that's why total peace is a requirement...
So anyway, we were especially sensitive to the layout of the Tahaa (which we found less than ideal for privacy in general, which is a shame). I think what they are telling you is true -- the end of pontoons were absolutely the most private, except for the end-of-pontoon that is right along the "boat path" to the dock, that will get noise and people any time excursions (diving, etc.) and airport transfers go by. They didn't have any end-of-pontoons available during our stay, which was a bummer, because we would have ponied up for the switch in a heartbeat.
In terms of keeping in touch, the Tahaa now has a really great media room with two or three computers hooked up to the internet with a relatively fast connection. I can't remember if there is an extra charge, but if there was, it was minimal and worth it for us (we needed to keep in touch with family too). Also, we found that our GSM phone got good reception from our OWB.
I'm so excited for you that you're leaving soon!!! Happy anniversary and happy birthday! You should make sure to tell them about your special occasions. I'll bet they do something nice for you.

Thanks Yosemite! I am so excited. It has been a very last minute trip, and we definitely need it! We have decided on the end of pontoon, but the website is not showing availability. I am trying to get in touch with their reservation agent so we can book through her. It's only been four years since our last trip, and it's felt longer than the first 10 it took us to get back to FP!
Believe it or not, when we were on our honeymoon, the BBLR was only open 6 months! We decided to try the Pearl last time in Bora Bora and were not impressed and almost went back to BBLR for the rest of our stay...looking forward to a new experience at the Thalasso and Nui! And we know what we're getting at Tahaa and can't wait!

Hi Haredi,
OWB 105 and 106 at the Nui do have partial views of Mt. Otemanu from their decks. The view is down the channel between Motu Toopua and Toopua Iti. I have a photograph of the view in my trip report from 2006. If you can't find it, I can e-mail it to you tonight if you give me your e-mail.

Thanks islandboyatheart! I could not locate it, but my e-mail is haredi at aol dot com
I did request 105-109, (maybe we'll luck out with an upgrade to the Royal Suite 107:-)) but if possible, I would rather have the view of the island since we'll have the horizon at Tahaa.

I sent you the photos Haredi. Bungalows 108 and 109 have decks that face the open ocean so if you want a view of Mt. Otemanu, I would drop those from your list.

I'm crossing my fingers for you that they still have end-of-pontoon availability for you. No matter what you'll have a lovely time, of course!
Just a few more days until you leave now. Are you already packed?
:o)

Haredi on the northern pontoon at the far end, they're constructing 2 enormous pres villa's, make sure they don't put you up there but rather on the south pontoon
