As anyone stayed, or know someone who stayed at Villa Corallina? Any comments? I'm considering it for my trip next year but I can't find much on the forum.
Andie

I haven't stayed there, but have seen it while on the motu (Fareone). Check out their website at www.villacorallina.com.
Logistically, I think it would be important to know how "on demand" available the courtesy boat transport across the lagoon would be to get back to the main island for groceries, restaurants, etc., when you wanted to. Also, though it may seem like you will be virtually isolated on your own private island while there, in reality a lot of the snorkeling expeditions and lagoon excursions go to that motu as well, so there are people who walk the beaches and around the motu all day long (but not at night, usually), so it's really not as private as it seems.

Hi BarbiJKM! Glad you responded! I tried to send you a PM, but I always get the message that the box is full... Thanks for the info. I knew I had read something like this somewhere but could find it. I'm still considering the Fare Miti as you advised me sometime ago. By the way, the grand-baby must have arrived by now...;0)

Barbi, are we talking about dozens and dozens of people every day or the odd group once in a while?

Andie,
I don't think the PM on this forum is functioning... you can email me any time at BarbiJKM@aol.com (put Moorea in the subject line). (Yes, the grandbaby arrived! January 12th! It's a girl!)
Dozens of people are on the motu every day on a good weather day when the lagoon excursions are running. But they tend to just wander around the edge of the island around the sand and the coral, not on the Villa Corallina property iself, which is set back a bit from the sea, and is technically private property. You might get the odd curious tourist coming to ask about the place and maybe pick up a brochure. I don't think they'd create noise or disturb you at all, not like it's a party island, but you should just be aware that you will not be on the kind of "exclusive" deserted island that they seem to advertise. (No nooky on the beach, if you know what I mean, except maybe under the stars at night!)

Oh no...no nooky? Bah umbug...! Anyway, I suppose that you can't really have a beach to yourself anywhere. Congrats on becoming a grand-maman!

The coral that passes for beach on motus is hard on the knees anyway! And then there's sunburn where its not wanted. And sand flys.
The occasional wandering tourist can sometimes save you from yourself!

you could have your private little motu island but in the Tuamotu and ditto Barbi that place does not have the privacy it should have for the prices they charge... anyway French maritime law prevents any beach from being private up to the high tide mark

I'm a bit perplexed...Seeing the pictures on the website, it looks like there's a beach around the motu, at least part of it, especially on the lagoon side. Would you simply not recommend going?
Poehere, any recommendations for a private motu in the Tuamotus? I'm booking Raimiti, but I'm open to other suggestions.
Many thanks to all.

Barbi, is this on one of the 2 motu's across from the old Club Med? Moorea Village used to take guests snorkeling there.
