I have heard that this excursion is just beautiful. Apparently you can do half day or full day snorkel/motu picnic etc. I know that it takes approximately one hour to get there, but I need to make contact with the excursion companies that offer this. Any suggestions?

You can just book it at your hotel once you get to Rangiroa. No need to book it ahead of time.

When we were there 2 years ago we booked through the hotel for the following day. No problem at all.

We will be on the cruise ship Paul Gauguin, and will only arrive that day, so I need to book prior. Thanks.

Can't you book it through the cruise ship?

I will give you a few names and numbers that were in Jan Prince's last book. She doesn't have any excursion companies listed in her newest edition.

These all had trips to the Blue Lagoon listed.

Oviri Excursions tel/fax 96.05.87

Raumati Excursions tel 96.83.23

Tane Excursions tel 72.31.51 She doesn't recommend this one because he has a history of putting too many people on his boats which is a safety hazard

She has a few other names listed, but they don't specifically say they go to the Blue Lagoon.

Honestly, I think you should check with your cruise ship to see if they offer it. That would be your safest bet, in my opinion.

Thanks Patti. The ship does not offer this excursion. I have checked already. I do have the latest book, and will check. I have heard of Oviri, and also wanted to know if they were a reputable company to deal with? Not looking for any surprises or problems. Thanks.

If they don't offer the excursion, I wonder if that is because of the time constraints??? It does seem to be an all day excursion.

It all depends on the weather and how many people they have. When we were there, they cancelled it due to not enough people. We never did get to go.

If what Joe says is standard then you should probably go with who ever the Kia Ora Hotel uses. That would be the best chance of having a large enough group.

Or, go on cruise critic and find others who will be on your cruise and convince them to go on the excursion with you so you have a large enough group.

Woo Hoo! I just graduated! I am now officially an EXPERT advisor!
