I have not used them. But I would assume most of the Safari Tours are fairly similar in both content and price. Is there a reason why you're asking about this one in particular? Are they supposed be different somehow than the others?

They are supposed to do a similar tour as all the others but also take you to places like the fish market, the fruit stands by the ferry dock, pharmacy, etc. I thought they would be a really good way to orient yourself to the island. They were listed in Jan Prince's last book, but not the latest edition so I was curious if they are out of business or she just no longer recommends them??

Hmm...I don't know. Hopefully Barbi or Hamara know the answer to this as they spend a lot of time on moorea.

Most all the tours on Moorea follow the same routine. The fish market on Moorea is closed much of the time, the fruit stands
by the ferry dock are no different that the rest of the fruit stands on the island, and there are only two pharmacys. I always
recomend Albert and their driver Tom who is a friend of mine.

I have never taken Julienne's safari tour, which used to begin at Moorea Village (now closed). You can reach her by phone, though, at these contact numbers:

Julienne Taiuri: Phone/Fax: (689) 56-48-87
Vini (Cell phone): (689) 78-65-40

Thanks.... It seems like most people use the same companies for tours so it makes it hard to compare. I'm not real interested in seeing the agriculture school, vanilla plantations or pineapple fields. I'll try calling. Thanks again.

The reason most stop at those places is they are on the way up to and back from Belevdere lookout....and all the tours go up there. At the pinapple fields, I spent more time taking pictures of the surrounding mountains (which are beautiful!), than I did looking at the pineapples.

Islandbreeze, If you aren't really interested in doing a lot of those typical safari things, why not consider renting a car and driving around on your own. The Belvedere is very easily accessible by car and with the car you then have the freedom to explore the places you have an interest in at your own speed.

Renting a car is a thought. I would like to see the waterfalls though. Would we be able to hike to them without renting a 4 x 4? Also, would we know what we're even seeing when we see it (does that make sense?) you know how sometimes you pass things right up b/c you didn't even know it was there or didn't know what it was...then again exploring on our own would be fun! Thanks for the suggestion.
