My wife and I will be flying Air Tahiti Nui from LAX to Papeete on Wednesday night. Does anyone have any tips or cautions? Thanks.

Pack light! You won't need a ton of clothes. You will spend most of your time in your swim suit.
Never hurts to pack half your clothes and half your wifes clothes in each others suitcase. That way, just in case a piece of luggage gets lost, you both still have some clothes to wear.
For the flight...wear clothes that are not to warm and not too cool. For what ever reason the flight on ATN alternate between freezing cold and suffocatingly hot every couple hours.
Best tip I can always offer is bring your sense of humor with you....when life hands you some lemons, don't make a sour face, make lemonade!

Thanks Patti. Is it true I should exchange US travellers checks at the bank at the main airport at Papeete?

Yes, do it at the bank at the airport in PPT. After you exit the baggage area and customs, it will be to your left....just to the left of the pearl shop. It will be open for all international arrivals, regardless of the time of day (or night).
Where are you going to be staying and for how long?

Take a windbreaker/light jacket with you. The lounge at LAX is freezing cold (at least it was in November)!

Yes, those Airbuses have awful ventilation systems. Either too hot or too cold..; '[

Thanks everyone for your advice. We're going to Te Tiare Resort and will also be spending time at Villas Bougainville.

Have a great time! Stop by when you get back and give us a trip report. I'd love to hear how your trip went.

Poehere...so how is their trip going? I know it got off to a pretty bad start. Just wondering if it has improved for them?
