Hi,
Anybody knows James on Moorea ? Did you have a tattoo done there, are you happy with the work ???
Any info welcome.
We are thinking of having a small tattoo done at the beginning of our trip as James says it's fine to swim in the lagoon afterward, any thoughts on that ?
Thanks for your help, this forum is great !

Hi ninou. I don't know James' work, but I'd highly recommend getting the tattoo at the end of your stay and avoid swimming after it, especially in chlorinated water. Keep it moist with the local manoi oil after for as long as possible.

I've read on one of the tattoo artist's websites that swimming in the ocean afterwards is fine. But yes, you should avoid swimming pools. The OP did say, the lagoon.

I contacted two reputable tattoo artists in Tahiti and they both said absolutely NO swimming in either ocean/lagoon/pool after the tattoo. It's best to keep for the last day of your trip.

James is very reputable, and I've personally met him and seen his tattoo fare, which is clean and well-kept.

Two years ago, my husband and I made a spur of the moment decision to each get a tattoo. It is so unlike us to do anything like that, we had watch James do his art of tattooing previous year's(This is when he was at the Moorea Intercontinental)and decided it was time to do something out of the ordinary, and what better souvineer to bring home, from our favorite place in the world. My husband got a tiki on his arm, unfortunately, we had to get back to the cruise ship so it wasn't quite finished(he found out about a woman from Hawaii that comes to California 3 times a year, so he had her finish it). I went first, and James tattooed my left upper outside thigh with my "Honu" it has a Tiare flower on it's back. We were very happy with James' work, it was our fault for not allowing more time for him to finish my husband's tattoo. It was almost finished, and what James had done was beautiful! We were on the 2nd day of our cruise and still had 10 more to go, James said, it would be fine to go swimming as long as went to the pharmacy and bought Biafine and put it on the tattoo's several times a day. You can't buy Biafine in the U.S. without a prescription, you can
in French Polynesia. It is wonderful stuff, and it only cost something like $4.50 a tube. Our tattoo's didn't suffer at all from swimming in the ocean or the pool.

I have had several pieces done by James and can only say that he is an amazing artist and I would personally not go elsewhere. Send me a message if anyone would like some photos of my Tattoos.
