Hi,
We've booked a Premier OWV at the St regis...but we can cancel within a month free of charge...So now my question is this:
Should we stay at the four seasons instead? Can anyone give a good anaylsis of both resorts? THEy are beide each other so location is the same...What about service? Amenities? Food and dining? And pricing?
If i was to stay at the four season, id like to get their 'Otemanu Over-Water Bungalow with Plunge Pool' which seems very comparible to st regis premier OWV...
any comments and suggestions would be very helpful...thanks!

The Four Seasons is not open yet. So there are no reviews of it yet. When are you going? It will not be opening to the public until October (I think???).

I think the new Four Seasons hotel will be spectacular. But for some reason it is now much cheaper than St Regis. And they have "one night free" promotion going on. So you can book the best OWB - yeah, the "Otemanu with Pool" one for 50% less than the best OWB at St Regis. I'm sure that will change as soon as the hotel is up and running so follow my advice and book your 4 Seasons stay as soon as you can
:-)))

Thats for info...when do FS open? We are planning on going last week of august...if FS opens begin of sept we can postpone till then, but i dont think we can wait till october due to our work schedules...50% off sounds like a great deal :) ....I cant see FS being dramatically better or worse than st regis...they are both 5 star hotels with a flawless history...and they are right besides each other...pricing and timing is the biggest factor i feel when comapring these 2 luxury resorts...agreed?

godx, the four season is opening somewhere this month and will gradually start accept a small number of guests (trial) until end of september/october (grand opening) right now they're putting the °°°° on the iiii and although it is more beautiful than the St Regis and the service will probably be much better (they've been training staff since Oct last year!) normally when a hotel starts opening up there are lots of flaws to overcome, small construction errors or changes to be made, staff who need to find their way et cetera I don't know if you'd want that? I'll check on the opening dates and will post.
Let me clarify the service a little, St Regis works with a lot of young French staff and has a very high staff turnover, wheras Four Season has visited different archipels of FP to recrute Polynesian staff and has been training them since last year for all levels,
BTW snowboarder I found an offer for the St Regis, I mean MAP foc and 600 $ per person including airfare from Tahiti (airfare normally being around 350 $) not bad eh!

FS is accepting guest resa as per September 1st, prior to that date by invitation only (try-out) at least they'll have smoothed out certain flaws -if any- by Sept 1.

so after sept 1, for the most part, things should be running smoothly and the trial period is over? Would there be any advantage to going after there "grand opening" in october?
Also, the prices they have on their website right now...are those the discounted prices already? or are those the regular prices?
thanks again for your help, its very valueable!!

godx, they expect everything to be "top notch" as of Sep 1, so no advantage going in Oct so to speak. Rates on website quoted are the regular rates and those are not expected to change. However they have a special, stay 5 nights pay 4, so do contact Yves of this site and book with him, who knows he may be able to get you a nice upgrade... the bungalows are awesome!!!
