This doll is more then just a paper doll, to me. She represent's, what I love about French Polynesia, the amazing people, culture and beauty of the land, lagoons and ocean. In my _ _ years of life, I have never felt such a love for any other place on earth. I believe, it's almost a magical feeling. My heart has been kidnapped by Tahiti and Her Island's and that is where my mind is most of the time, too! Then the "Grand Finale" is, sharing and meeting other's that share my passion and love of the islands, right here on this wonderful website! What I've found out about all of you that share on this forum, is a genuine kindness and caring for other's, you all are very special!

Poehere,

I really like the name "Tereva," for "long travels"! I also think she needs some "pearls," and am curious to see what you bring for her. Hey, you guys can add anything else to her you want as she reaches you -- I am just starting her out!

Already I have some friends here, American "lurkers" on this board, who want to be photographed with her at the new golf course clubhouse on Moorea when we go to lunch next week! And of course there will be other photos on Moorea before she sets out on her journeys...

Keep your suggestions coming!

This is a very special forum with very special people on it, and this will be a fun way for us to "touch" each other in real life.

What a great thing this is turning out to be. I had no idea when I first suggested it that it would catch on in such a big way. I'm so glad Gary and Cath said they wanted in on the sand sending project, otherwise the doll idea would have never entered my mind.

I can't wait to get her flying. It's going to be so much fun tracing her travels around the world. Sounds like she already has a huge fan club just on Moorea alone!

I'm sure she would love the Southern Hospitality here in Savannah. Hope she will be able to make it this way.

OK, folks . . . once she has a name, she will need a Passport!
I made one up for Meriwether, our travel monkey, and have seen other folks with pretend passports for their stuffed traveling companions.

I'd volunteer to make one up, but it would be a US passport, and that wouldn't be right.

Here's how I did it:
Find a color scanner
Scan the covers, information pages, and several blank pages of somebody's passport. Reduce the scale a bit from actual. save as pdf files
Take a color photo of the face of the doll.
Using a pdf annotator, paste the doll's face over the face of the real person's face. Black out the number of the real passport. Insert a text box with the doll's name and address over the real person's name and address.
Print is all out in color.
Line up the edges of the printed images by holding against a window. Staple the stack together.
Using a paper cutter, trim about 1/2" away from the edges of the images (trim the stapled edge off last)
Fold each page in half and stack the images together in book fashion.
Staple near the folded edge.
Retrim the loose edges, with the booklet folded, this time right at the edge of the images.
Using double stick tape, stick together the blank, white surfaces that are back-to-back with each other.

About 50% of the time, customs officials will oblige with an entry or exit stamp when you present the doll and her passport after they have done their official business eith you.

Right on STM, and she definitly needs an air miles pass so I will register her with ATN!
If we perfume her with some "pape fafaru" I am sure they will send her through immediately with a stamp LOL

Barbi she needs her very own email as well: tereva@mail.pf so everyone can leave messages and we can keep track of her (if everyone else agrees to "tereva" and then we'll set up her own blog/website

STM,

If I can scan a Tahitian friend's passport while here, can I email you the imgages and have you create her passport? (It sounds like you know what you are really doing, and I can't access the supplies I would need from here on Moorea.) We can use it to note her travels with a name and city and date of every place she travels! (I, for one, am not brave enough to ask a customs official for an entry/exit stamp for a paper doll!)

Poehere,

Having an email address for her is a great idea to keep records of who wants her, where she is, and where and when she is going next. But it would need one person to access it and coordinate her travel, i.e., letting the next person to receive her know by email the name and snail mail address of the next destination on the list.

If I have this right, as of right now, she will go from Moorea to Honolulu, then onward to Tahitian Princess in CA, who will send her to Patti in Las Vegas, who will send her to Hamara in WA? We need to set up a system to guide her from there... I'm assuming that folks don't want to post their snail mail and email addresses openly on this forum...

Any ideas about logistics?
