Does anyone know the current cost of the chef's degustation dinner WITH wine pairings at Villa Mahana in Bora Bora (I know -- if you have to ask, you can't afford it, right?) Also, do they charge for transportation? Thanks.

Last time we were there it was about $350.00 for 2 of us. And they tack on the transport charge to your bill. Don't remember how much it was though. But you're right, if you have to ask....

We had the Royal menu euro 125 (price listed in euro...) which would be 15000 cfp or appr. 207 us$ p.p (rate 72) we paid around 200 us extra for drinks to accompagny so in total 2 pax 620 us$ or so. We thought it not worth the money (sorry but we're very spoiled French cuisine eaters hahhaha) as the service was lousy and the quality of the food for us residents did not at all in our view justify the price. However people rave about VM so I guess you should try. No locals go there though, we just did for a birthday celebration.
THe Kaina hut reopend recently and that is really good (caramelised foie gras and so) but at "normal" prices.

Easy Hamara, I'd prefer Coco's any time, (apart from great memories with Janet K) the setting Coco's, wonderfull to hear the waves break when sitting in that garden sipping a pre-dinner drink (VM is a copy of mediteranean villa....hmmmm) and the food at Coco's is absolutely delicious with very good service VM in my humble opinion -lol- is overdone and too expensive but heck he only has to fill 6 tables each night and one gets the impression they don't care if people don't come back

Thanks for your comment. Since I don't do Bora and have no intention of ever returning I'll just continue to do Coco's. I will always remember Bora before any hotel was ever built on any motu. I have a great picture of Bora taken from the air in 1977.

I often think about those days, just a beautiful green island... with only the HBB and Sofitel Marara built to house Dino deLaurentius film crew for "Huricane", seems a lifetime ago
