I really enjoy reading the posts here! Everyone is so positive!
We are less than 3 weeks away from our trip to FP. I have read the posts about Huahine and Taha'a excursions. We are trying to decide what to do on Huahine and Taha'a. Any preference between excursions with Marc or Bruno? Or any other ideas? One caveat - Bruno's excursion will cost us $220 per person since we are staying at the furthest pickup point on Taha'a. Thanks for all your advice!

Yep, but that's what the website says. It's $100 more per person, because we are staying at Vahine Island (it must be a ways away). You can see why I'm reluctant to book it...

Wow, well tell you the truth there is hardly any tourists and it is high season right now! I mean Tahaa is a very quiet small island, how can they want to charge so much with the economy the way it is?? I don't understand, is it l'excursion bleue finley? They're based in Raiatea or what tour do you want to do? And you know what, fishermen and people doing boat excursions get subsidized petrol, meaning they pay much less than ordinary people to obtain fuel for the boats!! This really makes me mad! sorry!!

We are staying at Vahine Island in November. Thinking long and hard about l'excursion bleue because of the pickup price added in. And we will be there off season.

You might consider renting a car for a day on Huahine and cicling the islands at your own pace. Avis, Hertz and Europcar all are in Fare. You can stop at the marae, visit the pearl farm, check out the blue eyed eels etc. There are several pull offs along the road with spectacular views. If you're staying at Te Tiare or near Fare you can stop for lunch at Pension Maurai or Relais Mahana on Huahine Iti. Good food and excellent beach. If you are into riding there is an excellent horse riding facility near the airport.

Finley and Denverjoe, there are others, based on Tahaa offering island and water excursions, as mentioned it really upsets me to see l'excursion bleue' charging ridiculous amounts of money to pick people up at Vahine island, i feel almost ashamed

I'll be staying at Vahine in a couple months as well and I crossed l'excursion bleue off my list because of that. I think $100 extra to pick up is absurd. In fact, imo, when you are paying over 100/person for an excursion, pick up should be included or a VERY minimal charge. Vahine is only an extra 15 minute boat ride from where the tour begins so why all that extra?? I've read good things about Dave's tours so I may consider using them.

IB, when are you at Vahine? Be sure and post who you did tours with while there. I don't know if we'll do anything except relax while there, but I want to keep my options open.

It sounds like quite a few of you are going to Vahine island soon. Please please post detailed trip reports when you get back. I have been wanting to go there for years. Our last FP trip I brought it up again, but our TA's local rep strongly recommended us away from it because she doesn't know the property very well and didn't feel it met her standards. Personally, I think it looks like paradise.
