I'll be at Vahine the end of September. I plan on renting a car and driving around Raiatea one day and then I had also wanted to see Taha'a one day. I will probably wait to see what Vahine can organize when I'm there but I'm leaning towards Dave's Tours. I'll give you (and YosemiteGirl) the scoop when I come back - Finley will beat me there so theirs will be the first report.

Congratulations on getting that great deal to FP. I wish that I had taken it. I could have paid for it with my heating bill costs savings. Once again today I put the furnace on even though the dang weather report claims it's supposed to be 76 degrees here! I put the furnace on several times so far in July just to get the chill out of the house! Have fun and looking forward to your report

Thanks Holte but unfortunately, I really wasn't able to take advantage of any deals other than the 88xpf/1. I traded miles for my flights about 8 months ago and missed the 30K deal on ATN. AA wouldn't credit me because my departure city and flights are different. Fortunately, I have points to use for 1/2 of my hotel stays so that keeps my cost down. Looking forward to a couple weeks in paradise.

IBAH The Vahine island being on the North/eastern motu's of Tahaa, it would be easy to get across and rent a car for Taha'a, byt for Raiatea you would have to take the ferry from either Patio or Haamene to Uturoa (6am) and back afternoon... You may want to look into "taha'a discovery", they can organise anything you want (lagoon/safari/motu)

Thanks Poehere. I know that Vahine offers a boat transfer back to Uturoa so I figure I can hop on the boat and then arrange to rent a car there. I will definitely look into Taha'a discovery - do they have a web site?

Sorry, I've been out of town. I will definitely try to post as soon as I get back the end of August. School starts the next week, so be patient with me. Thanks for the info - we may wait and try Dave's tours when we get there - it doesn't seem like there's a website. I know that Vahine charges about $50 per person (bad exchange rate) for transport to the airport area. But, it might be less expensive to do that and rent a car than to do the Bruno tour.
