We will be in Moorea on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in October. The activities we want to do during our stay is Helmet Diving, whale/dolphin tour/motu picnic, and Tiki Village dinner. We are staying at the IC Moorea. I have done considerable research in books (Jan Prices and well as others) and talk forums and am sometimes finding conflicting schedules about activities operating on Sunday. In addition only about 1 out of 10 emails I send to FP websites seem to arrive at it's destination. We will not be arriving in Moorea until late morning on Saturday so the whale/dolphin/motu picnic excursion would be best for Sunday. Can anyone recommend one of these types of tours that you know operates on Sunday. Thanks very much

For the whale watching I highly recommend Michael Pool... Normally SUndays should be no problem for excursions especially in Oct which is a very quiet month in terms of tourism.
Usage of email/internet is not at all at the same level as in the US or elsewhere (apart from some companies in Tahiti), especially on the outer islands people are not in hte habit yet of replying... you may want to check tahitiguide.com for excursions or Moorea Explorer, Hiro's Tours on Moorea, I am not too much into excursions

You have plenty of time to email the general manager or concierge at the IC Moorea. They can book it all for you. Tell them what you'd like and when and my guess is they'll contact you. The helmet dive is right there at your hotel!

(I thought I already posted on this thread, but don't see it here...)
You might want to go to a ma'a Tahiti, traditional Tahitian feast with the earth oven and local foods, which is normally only held on Sundays, around noon. From the Moorea IC, you can easily go to Tu Moana Restaurant, just past Le Petit Village, which has a Sunday feast and also a local band playing Tahitian music on the beach patio all afternoon. Another good place for the ma'a is Chez Gerald, around PK 28-29, but you would probably need a car to get there.

Andy,
I defer to Hamara and STM, having never attended services here on Moorea. But I can check if you want me to; I think the Catholic Church (St. Joseph's) might have additional earlier services than 10 a.m. I will be over that way early this Sunday morning, and might stop in myself to church so will let you know... You want might want to bring white clothing for the service, since that is traditional here.

White clothing isn't necessary but I would suggest long pants and nice sun dress. The singing in the Tahitian churchs is a once in a lifetime experence. Once in Papetoai the service was several hours long as it was their once a year service where they collected funds but the payoff was the best Tahitian Ma we have ever eaten.
