Hi Tahiti( and world) travelers...
I have a few cell phones for sale that were used once for a movie production in Tahiti.
They are multiband unlocked GSM (works in most countries and with ATT in the US) and include the Vini subscription and phone number.
It's a Motorola L6i in black. Very slim and light with all the features you expect.

Poehre - If I could send you a bunch of phone without having to pay duty, you can have them for $60 a phone - I am sure they'll go like hot cakes in PPT...

As I understand my own Tahitian cell phone (and Yves will correct me if I am wrong), it is supplied with a Vini SIM card, which gives you (1) a Tahitian cell phone number, which people can call you at directly from the USA (or anywhere) at no cost to you for incoming calls; and (2) a certain number of outgoing message units to make calls either locally in FP or internationally, but very limited in minutes. After your credits are used up, your phone number is still good for up to 3 months for incoming calls. You can extend the outgoing capacity by buying locally a "Vini Recharge Card" from lots of places -- hotel gift shops, supermarkets, any post office here in FP -- in various denominations, 500 CFP, 1000 CFP, 3000 CFP, etc. Each "recharge" extends the life of your phone number. So its basically like a prepaid phone in the USA.
Through multiple visits, we've managed to keep our Vini phone "alive" with its temporary phone number for more than 3 years!
Also, of course, the actual cell phone will be usable with any SIM card you purchase anywhere you go that is compatible with a GSM unlocked phone.
It's a VERY good deal over the price of doing all of this locally in FP. If I didn't already have two of my own phones here, I would definitely take Yves up on this offer!
