I am staying at the Pearl. I called the hotel and could not figure out what they were saying about transfers from the airport. Can anyone suggest the best way to get from there to my hotel?

beluga: At the Air Moorea counter in Tahiti ask to buy taxi passes for 600 francs each and buy 4 for transportation back to the Moorea airort when you leave if you are flying back to Papeete after your stay at the Pearl. Torea Nui Transport will then take you to your hotel. You can only buy the taxi passes in Tahiti at the Air Moorea counter.

Does it matter what hotel you are buying the taxi passes for(the Sheraton)? Is there a time limit for their use(we will be going to Bora bora first)?

I don't know if you will be able to buy them first. Because you will not be at the Air Moorea terminal. You will be flying to Bora Bora from the main terminal. And then you will be flying to Moorea from Bora Bora, on Tahiti Air, not on Air Moorea. I am not sure if the transfers are available at the Tahiti Air counter or not. I have never heard of it, but then again, I don't know anyone who has done it in that direction. Almost everyone goes to Moorea first, then Bora Bora, rather than the way you are going.

I'm pretty sure the Sheraton has some sort of arrangement with the shuttle services too. I seem to remember someone doing that fairly recently. You need to get in contact with them to find out.

The Pearl is not that far a drive from the airport. A taxi won't break the bank. And you can probably find folks on your flight to share with.

If they are open when you arrive, some of the booths at the airport will sell you a shuttle ride.

You can book a transfer with moorea explorer, for Sheraton about 1400 cfp/p.p, depending on how many pax you are a taxi might be cheaper

www.mooreatransport.com
or Toreanui (the 600 cfp deal is in combination with air moorea only) they do transportation upon request as well

The transfer to the Sheraton will be for two people....does anyone know about how much it will be for a taxi? When you book a transfer do you have to wait for other flights to come in or drop offs at other hotels?

You won't have to wait for other flights to come in, but they will drop off other passengers (if there are any) in the order they come to them as they go down the road. It really doesn't take long to drop someone else off. When we were in Moorea in November, there were 2 of us couples in the van & we were dropped off at Pension Motu Iti just before them. I'd say it took less than a minute for us to get out & the guy to lift out our luggage.

Postcard you can get the same transfers from Toreanui for the same price 600 cfp/p.p as witht the air moorea but you need to reserve by email prior to arrival (you can email in english). WHen arriving with air tahiti from BB for example you go to their desk pay in cash et voilą.
Taxi would be around 4000 cfp!
