Anyone had experience with this place since the construction was completed? We are thinking of going sometime in Sept/Oct and thinking about staying here for part of our stay. A lot of the things I read about it seem to be before the construction so they may not hold true anymore.

Finnano has stayed there in March or April, I believe, and I hope she responds. If not, what are your concerns? It's beautiful and on a very nice beach with good snorkeling. We don't stay there but eat there often and snorkel there often. Very nice people, especially Lucille who speaks perfect English. We were last there (not staying, however) in December. Chez Tara's is right next door and has great food ,also and a traditional Tahitian meal on Sundays.

We stayed in RM in Oct. last year, and it's my all time favorite. This was our 4th time there. We were in a new "deluxe beach bungalow" and it was fabulous. They've kept the old "superior bungalows" on the restaurant side, but I think you get a much better value with any of the new ones. Even the "bungalow rooms" are nice, they are sort of a duplex setting. Our bungalow had a indoor/outdoor shower that opened into a private little backyard. They now have all the modern conveniences, like phones(!), TV and probably internet. I say probably because we never even turn the TV on while on vacation - we try to get away from all that!
The beach there is great, with a new pier and good snorkeling. The place hasn't changed much, which is good because it has a special flair and a small place feel to it. The food is fantastic when the chef is in the house, but can be a little inconsistant on his days off... Lucy runs the reception and she is a sweetheart. The only minus I can think of is the distance to Fare, you do need a car to get there. We hooked up with another couple and rented a car together for a day. If you are there on a Sunday, try to go to the tiny village nearby (Parea) for a chuch service. The singing there is out of this world.

We stayed in Relais Mahana in July/Aug. this year. We reserved a garden bungalow, but were upgraded to a beach bungalow for no cost, because they weren't booked full. It was very nice. If you are used to the resorts, it's a step down (the lawns weren't as manicured), but it's still very nice. We did have a gecko that crawled across our bed and settled down below the headboard. (But they eat mosquitos). No mosquito net, but we didn't need one with the windy nights we were there. The beach was nice, but the snorkeling a bit murky. Let me know if you want more info.
