hmmm just beaching in BB? Matira beach is the only "white sand" beach on the main island and well, it is public, some hotels on the motus have white sand beaches but only on lagoon side (ocean side is dead coral)

The Thalasso sits between the ocean and the lagoon on a motu, but everything in FP faces inward to the lagoons. The ocean floor drops away too quickly for it to be pretty. The Ranch Reva Reva gent told me that it went down to 6 or 8 thousand feet between Bora and Riaitea.

AHowell, let me know if you want to see photos of both our stay at BB Pearl in 2006 and our Thalasso stay in 2007 and maybe you can get a better idea (we also stayed at IC Moorea in 2007 as well).

Thank you to Gary & Cath! Saw the photos- amazing!
Why is this so difficult... So, now, I'm taking mom as a treat. It's Moorea (3 nts.), then Bora Bora (4 nts.) at Pearls or ICs - likely ICs-Thalasso. But now I'm struggling with whether to do OWBs on both islands? Does it get "old" (ha!?) after doing the OWB on the first island and having to keep walking out to one, or is it the best way to go if you can spend the money? (I'd do the premium beachfront room as the alternate option.)

I'm driving myself nuts. lol I've now since realized that I don't like the Moorea IC or Pearl, and that I must stay at the Moorea Sofitel!

Don't make yourself nuts trying to decide. It's really hard (if not impossible) to make a bad choice. Honestly...it's all great!
What makes or breaks most trips to FP is the travelers attitude, not the accomodations. As long as you have a good open mind and realistic expectations, you will have a great time regardless of where you stay. As soon as you accept the fact the level of service you will receive will probably not match the price you are paying....the better off you will be.
Your Mom is coming too? How cool. She'll love it. I've taken my Mom twice now. And my hubbys Mom is coming with us on our next trip.

Thanks, Patti! My mom only has a hint about the trip. I'm not telling her where or any details till I book it and paid in full! I'm definitely not a "stickler" on service- I'm usually more pleasantly surprised and impressed when the service matches the accomodations/amenities. I know the BB Pearl is probably the better/sound choice but that darn Thalasso is just so sexy and tempting! haha

When are you planning to go? At certain times of the year, different hotels have different specials going on...pay 4, stay 5, or free meals, etc. So you may want to investigate those possibilities before making your final decision.
Are you using an agent, or trying to do it yourself?
If you're using an agent, don't mention it here, as this site is run by a travel agent...and a very good one at that. You might want to check with him (Yves)to see what kind of package he can offer.

I'm working with Barbara on here for agent. Planning for Jan.
What is the big appeal of Moorea? Is it the mountains and lush vegetation mainly? It reminds me of St Lucia from the photos. To go most exotic, I'm wondering if I shouldn't skip it for Huahine or tikehau? I can't afford LeTahaa.
