Advice on Flights

I just received notification of a flight schedule change for Air Tahiti Nui. They are no longer offering the flight I booked for our return next May (PPT to LAX, departing 7:45). They re-booked me on the 10pm flight that same day, which is fine, but now I'm wondering what to do about my flight from Moorea to PPT that day. I'm currently booked on the 4:45 flight out of Moorea, but I could take a later flight (6:15). What should I do?
I think I remember reading on this board or another one that its better to take an earlier flight out of Moorea since the later flights sometimes are overbooked. Is this true? And, if we keep our 4:45 flight to Moorea, what should we do with our time? I'd like to have a decent dinner in Papeete before our flight since we will have enough time, but I'm not sure where to go, or what to do with our luggage. Is there a place to store luggage for a few hours at the airport?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Carrie

Carrie, There is a luggage storage facility at the Tahiti Airport, where you can store your things, and then take either le truck or a taxi into the Papeete waterfront area (about 4 miles) to have dinner. You need to be back at the airport to retrieve your luggage and get on the check-in line no later than 7:00 p.m., so I would take the earlier (4:45 p.m.) flight. If you do take the 6:15 p.m. flight, you wouldn't have enough time to go into town.
Here's a link to more information about the location and prices of the luggage storage building:

Carrie~ Another option...if you don't have a lot of luggage...is take the last ferry back to Papeete. Have dinner at the roulottes...or at a restaurant...and then take a cab (or le truck) to the airport. The downside is you will be dragging your luggage around with you. But if you don't have a lot of pieces, and it's on rollers, it's really not so bad.
If you do stick with the flight, stay with the earlier one. That later one has caused me problems my last few trips.
