I just realized I posted this message in the wrong forum but here's a duplicate..
Hello all, its been six years since I last logged onto this forum. From what I've seen, more people seem to be visiting the Tahitian Islands. My wife and I spent a fabulous honeymoon on Bora Bora(6 days) and Moorea(<4hrs) 6 years ago. Back then, there was a lot of discussion about the Tahitian Islands versus the Hawaiian Islands. I've been to both and would like to share my thoughts and a few photos from each...To sum it up in a nutshell, Tahiti truly gives the meaning to the word "Paradise".. Tahiti is simply unmatched. Both Hawaii and Tahiti are beautiful in their own unique way, But Tahiti has otherworldly beauty..it's like being on another planet. This is especially true when looking at the islands from an arial point of view. The sand is like sugar, the palm trees grow like weeds, the majority of the locals are (were) true native Tahitians, you practically have the place to yourself, no traffic, no worries. I miss the place. Kaui is similar to Moorea, but Moorea has the qualities that I just mentioned and the entire island is Mountainous..jagged that is. Tahiti is truly paradise. My Tahiti(Le Meridian) honeymoon photos can be viewed here http://webpages.charter.net/rb4u2c
My Maui/Kaui photos can be viewed here http://rb4u2c.zenfolio.com/p812253053
Please keep in mind that my Tahiti photos (and skills) were from a different era. Thanks for allowing me to share!

Awesome pictures. If your skills were from differemt era on the Tahiti photos, then I assume you are incredible now. Picture perfect is how I describe and feel about the islands. I agree with Vaitape, in that she is a beautiful bride. So many people come here to Bermuda as well for weddings. It is however no comparison to French Polynesia. Cannot wait to return in October!

imsobroke: don't be discouraged. There are deals to be discovered if you do your research and stay at accommodations in gardens rather than OTWs and at pensiones and smaller hotels rather than at the large resorts. An alternative on Bora is Club Med. Check it out and also the travel agency that provides us this board.......!!!

I agree that there's no substitute for FP. No real baguettes, pearl farms, or Tahiti Drink here in Hawaii. Very unfortunate for us.

Rodjune-I am sorry to inform you that I cannot shed even one little tiny tear for you that you are forced to live in Hawaii.

Imsobroke, I'm going for 14 nights for less than $5k next month. Ya just gotta be constantly vigilant for those deals. I think it was just last month that ATN had a buy-one-get-one ticket deal.

Rodjune: which island are you on? Anywhere near Pearl City? I need a cheap hotel, Motel 6 quality, just to crash for a night on my way back. G/F wants to see the USS AZ memorial.

Vaitape, sorry for the late reply. Yes we are taking a cruise on the Paul Gauguin. We just love it. I see from other roll calls that you will be there after us. You are on the same sailing as friends of ours, Carol,Rodolfo, and Wendy. They are really lovely people. Our cruise is actually on Nov.1, but we are there for a few days prior. 33 days and counting before we start the journey. Doesn't it come around fast?
